WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. military wants to establish regional teams of military personnel to assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.
The proposal is awaiting final approval from Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
The officials would not be identified because the proposal from U.S. Northern Command's Gen. Victor Renuart has not been approved by the secretary.
The plan calls for military task forces to work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no final decision on how the military effort would be manned, but one source said it would likely include personnel from all branches of the military.

Well, the military was complicit in the 1918 flu pandemic and outbreak... it may be the same this time, too...

Nothing in the article explicitly mentions forced immunization.
The article elicits a foreboding tone along the lines of martial law, roundups, forced quarantines, and sure, maybe forced immunization.
I don’t get this. If they’re volunteering to get the vaccine to the various distribution centers in the event of the need for extra manpower, that’s one thing. I don’t see why they would be needed to administer the vaccine or force anyone to take it. That would be a job for the police and health department.
I know they had a significant number of candidates at OCS who were sent home due to infection with it this summer. It may be that they have found enough cases (and the media is trying to prevent mass hysteria in the streets [because you know the crazies are going to run around screaming “we’re all gonna’ die”] so they have suppressed the totals we’ve had), but it is going around in the military.

I am very skeptical of this and I think a lot of people will be wary of this. It’s not like they are watching their relatives falling like flies from it.
