Diplomacy: Russia's nondemocratic rulers over the years have shown an uncanny knack for detecting weakness in their foes. Russia's Vladimir Putin is continuing the tradition.
But please read the fine print. This is a "preliminary" agreement. In order for it to go into effect, Russian leaders say they want the U.S. to give up its plans for a missile defense system.
To do so would, in effect, be a unilateral disarmament by the U.S. against the most feared weapons on earth nuclear missiles. It's an abandonment of our allies, including Poland and the Czech Republic. It's not an acceptable bargaining chip.
It's reminiscent of the time in 1961 when President Kennedy like Obama, youthful, attractive, intelligent, well-spoken met with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. During that meeting, Khrushchev quickly sized up Kennedy as a foreign-policy lightweight.
Within months, he tested Kennedy's mettle erecting the Berlin Wall, and, the following year, sending missiles to Cuba to challenge the U.S. just 90 miles off its own coast.
In public, Kennedy stood up to Khrushchev; behind the scenes, he caved, trading our missiles in Turkey for the ones in Cuba. Kennedy, in interviews, later regretted his own callowness.

Putin’s house boy.
It was obvious from the get-go that the Russians would pluck Obama like a dead chicken. They are probably stunned that he is plucking his own feathers.
Putin is LAUGHING at Obama, and has called Obama a fool (in so many words) in the past.
I am certain that the Russian have already seen what an empty suit Zerobama is.
Putin knows a fool when he sees one
Obama is a fool. Not a single Russian missile system that isn't already past its service life is going to be eliminated (Russian Gen. Nikolay Solovtsov, commander of the Strategic Missile Troops, said that "not a single Russian launcher" with "remaining service life" will be withdrawn under a new agreement). With or without such an agreement, Russia will still have to remove them from service, and they'll be reduced to about 680 launchers by 2017 either way.
What is even more dangerous is that the agreement doesn't cover tactical nuclear weapons, where Russia has a 10 to 1 advantage over the United States and is the far greater nuclear threat.
Words cannot adequately describe the incompetency of the current administration.
You be the judge. You don't even need those old Soviet Olympic judges to know the outcome.
Liberials and their revisonist history would have you believe otherwise. ;-)
Putin considers 0zer0 an “en-word” pure and simple.
Zero is ready to be anybody’s butt boy as long as they hate the USA as much as he does.
ping.
Kennedy gave up some old and obsolete missiles in Turkey to get Russia out of Cuba. A face saving move for Khrushchevs benefit, a strong diplomatic coup for Kennedy.
Obama=Weak socialist
Putin=Strong Communist
Winner... Strong Communist...
obama is much closer philosophically to Khrushchev than he is to Kennedy. I’m surprised obama didn’t just give it all away without any concessions from Putin. Or maybe he did and Putin is just protecting his boy obama.
