Just how long was the New York Times sitting on this article?

The Corner:
During the campaign, I wrote a piece called Why Wont Obama Talk About Columbia? The years he wont discuss may explain the Ayers tie he keeps lying about. So now, nearly six months into the Obama presidency, the mainstream media has finally done a bit of the candidate background reporting it declined to do during the campaign other than in Wasilla and whaddya know? The New York Times unearthed a 1983 article called, Breaking the War Mentality, that Columbia student Barack Obama wrote for a campus newspaper. The article shows that Obama dreaded American militarism and its military-industrial interests, while effusing enthusiasm for the dangerously delusional nuclear-freeze movement.
Moreover, while indicating a preference for the political wisdom of reggae singer Peter Tosh over Ronald Reagan or Scoop Jackson, Obama bewailed the narrow focus of anti-militarism activists, worrying that they were targeting the symptoms rather than the real disease, namely, Americas underlying economic and political injustice:
Generally, the narrow focus of the [Nuclear] Freeze movement as well as academic discussions of first versus second strike capabilities, suit the military-industrial interests, as they continue adding to their billion dollar erector sets. When Peter Tosh sings that everybodys asking for peace, but nobodys asking for justice, one is forced to wonder whether disarmament or arms control issues, severed from economic and political issues, might be another instance of focusing on the symptoms of a problem instead of the disease itself.
Obama nevertheless did see some advantage in homing in on a small target:

the tines? They still around?
On every fork in the drawer. :)
My first thought is ...
How could we sue? On what grounds might the American people have?
Or better yet, can we get the FBI to investigate if the Times was “paid” by the campaign or DNC to make these items unavailable? Which would mean election fraud?
It’s what Nytimese do. They have no concept of real journalism in their homeland. I don’t how they got permission to publish here in the U.S.
No way, not the New York Times, who would have thought....
“But, But..... You can’t hug a child with Nuclear Arms.....”
The way these people think frightens me. I can correlate this to gun control. They wish no one to have weapons, okay good, but the effect of this is that law abiding people will not have weapons (USA will have no nukes). And tin pot lawbreaking dictators who are outlaws will still have their nuclear arms. And i bet you dollars to doughnuts those dictators are not going to use their Nuclear “Arms” to hug their state children.....

Agreed. A lot of Republicans knew he was there and had some access to the Columbia archives, so why blame the New York Times for this one?
I’m guessing the NYT had a squadron of staffers assigned to Joe the Plumber. We learned more about Joe in 24 hours than we did about Baraq in 24 months.
Hey this jerk off is our president, but not mine.
He ain’t the president. He is an illegal usurper.

The entire despicable media was negligent. It could easily have been picked up by any American newspaper other than the NY Slimes.
How hard is it to sit in the Columbia library and run through microfiche copies of the school newspapers for the period of Obama’s time there?
Wouldn’t a standard-issue Grade C news organization do that anyway, just to make sure that Barry hadn’t burned his books at the Student Union or run his car into the dorm cafeteria or written death threats to his history teacher?
This the kind of basic and fundamental research that’s easy (but tedious) and that any cub reporter knows must be done by a news organization.
But our current media - and especially the graduates of the Columbia Graduate School of “Objective Journalism” - now practice a kind of unspeakable doltishness and negligence that they believe will get them a city beat, a city apartment, and a city babe.

I need equal rights and justice.
Got to get it! Equal rights and justice.
Everybody want to go to heaven
but nobody want to die.
Everybody want to go up to heaven
but none o’ them, none o’ them, want to die.
I don't want no peace,
I man need equal rights and justice.
I've got to get it! Equal rights and justice.
I really need it! Equal rights and justice.
Just give me my share! Equal rights and justice.
What is due to Caesar
you better give it on to Caesar.
And what belong to I and I
you better, you better, give it up to I.
Cause I don't want no peace,
I need equal rights and justice.
I need equal rights and justice.
I've got to get it! Equal rights and justice.
I'm fighting for it! Equal rights and justice.
Everyone heading for the top
but tell me how far is it from the bottom?
Nobody knows but
everybody fighting to reach the top
how far is it from the bottom?
Everyone is talking about crime,
tell me who are the criminals?
I said everybody’s talking about crime, crime,
tell me who, who are the criminals?
I really don't see them!
Equal rights and justice. And there’d be no crime!
Equal rights and justice. There be no criminals!
Equal rights and justice.
Everyone is fighting for equal rights and justice.
Palestine is fighting for equal rights and justice.
Down in Angola. Equal rights and justice.
Down in Botswana. Equal rights and justice.
Down in Zimbabwe. Equal rights and justice.
Down in Rhodesia. Equal rights and justice.
Right here in Jamaica. Equal rights and justice.
You can fool some of the people - all the time.
You can fool all the people - some of the time.
You cannot fool all the people - all the time.
