Palin 2012: The Crystal Ball
race 4 2012 ^ | July 3, 2009 | Alex Knepper

Posted on 07/03/2009 9:37:28 PM PDT by Al B.

Palin 2012. Hypothetical narrative.

If this is what she runs on — and does it well — then watch the hell out:

I’m Sarah Palin, and I’m running to be Citizen-In-Chief.

I entered politics to change something. I ran to serve my state, the great state of Alaska, and then for the vice-presidency because I care about this country.

I saw first-hand the viciousness and pettiness that have made Americans fed up with politicians, politics as usual, and the destructive personal attacks that also go on far too often. Those sorts of things that public service should never be about.

I thought I could serve my country best by being removed from that environment.

I don’t need a title to bring to Washington the change America really needs: a dose of humility in a federal government that has completely lost touch with its citizens.

So I come to you today as an Alaskan, as a parent of a soldier, and as a mother of five. I am running not as a member of the elite, of the establishment — but of the everyday. I ask to serve you as president because I have shared your experiences and I understand your disgust with the system. What we need today is not a ruler, but a servant. A servant of the people. A servant of America.

I will govern as first among equals, not as your ruler. Not as the Queen of Washington, giving orders that descend from on high. I know firsthand how that culture of selfishness and personal destruction in Washington harms lives. I ask for your support because I share your disgust with the system. And if you will fight with me, if you will put that trust in me to do that — then you can trust me, also, to change it.

Right after RINO boy threw the election, I took a black magic marker and fixed my bumper stickers.

Now one just says "Sarah!", and the other says "Palin". (I blocked out McCain in the small print too.)

I've gotten a few fingers, but get a lot of smiles and waves too.

I wish I still had your optimism. People still believe that Bush stole the election, for Pete’s sake.

I don't hear that much anymore...remember people have a short attention span...Sarah goes out on the prowl all that and more will be ancient history...

The game is afoot Watson.

She has barely twelve months before the Senate primary election in 2010. I believe she’s made two basic decisions with this event. First, she is running against Lisa Murkowski....who is a 2-star speaker at best and a 2-star campaign player. The primary is the only real election because the democrats can’t offer any substance in November. So Palin has no time to waste in this effort.

Second, forget 2012....Sarah has figured that it’s not worth playing. She will go to DC and play senator until 2016. Then she pulls the same stunt again...resigning...thus allow the Republican governor to select someone to replace her...while she runs for president. For any that oppose her....she will offer the ethical debate that you can’t subtract from your real job and run for office...and at that point...all of the potential senators in DC are automatically suspect for bad ethics if they choose to run against her. It’s a brilliant move.

This is a five-star script move....and worth watching to develop.

I wish I still had your optimism.

It's not optimism at all...it is just a fact that truth is self-evident... you can only run from it so long...it is truth that BO is intent on destroying the America we know and love...and it is also true that Sarah Palin actually cares about this country....all else are details...

“Bottom line: tens of millions of conservative Americans are frightened to death thinking about what Obama is proposing to do to America, its economy and its freedoms.”

We felt that way at election time and Obama still won.

“Quite simply a great many conservatives and Republicans have concluded that Sarah Palin is the only Republican capable of taking down the Messiah.”

I think too many Republicans are more interested in taking down Sarah Palin, but that’s just my opinion.

“Do you think they will say “Sarah, boy I wish you would have stayed up in Alaska as governor-you are doing such as good job-why waste your time down here?”

Depend on who “they” are. I think more than a few of them will be thinking “Go back to Alaska, lady” even as they beg her to endorse them.

Guess I’m just a tad cynical. :)

That was the plan, man. Hastily called presser, no time to speculate and/or spin. It was ALL the Sarah Show. No one from the press had a clue what was going on. And why would you expect applause from guys holding cameras and mics?
I heard everyone bemoaning the fact that she did this on a Friday before a holiday so it would be buried like bad news.
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Devoured the news coverage from the second she stepped up and she will devour it every time she utters a phrase anywhere in the USA! GOD bless her. She is the sanest, most down to earth person I have seen in years and years.
She is a patriot and a hero, and what’s more, she is that most rare of all things, an HONEST POLITICIAN!

True.

Some folks can overcome that though.

Sarah is one of those.

Sarah Palin is destiny, she will not be denied

I just love that don't you? The Obama dog and pony show is so predictable...a Carter re-do on steroids...

If they haven’t destroyed her yet they never will...

Very good point and oft overlooked, the MSM means nothing now, Sarah overcomes them all, much to their dismay...

I’m with her if she runs in ‘12. Having said that, she has made a bold and fascinating choice. I bet she’s an awesome poker player.

Okay, call me overly cynical if you like (and you’d be right), but truth in politics is not self-evident.

Even I don’t believe that Obama is intent on destroying the country. He wants power, pure and simple. His policies and power grabs may destroy the country, but that wouldn’t be his intention. It doesn’t make sense to acquire power and then intentionally destroy what gives you the power.

Having said that, I do believe that he is on the path to remaking this country into something the Founding Fathers feared.

I see a different strategy. Prep for 2012 by building a base of support in 2010. She does this by helping other much more conservative candidates get elected and raising money for them. This forces the GOP to push her to the primary candidate position.

It also creates a loyal backing of representatives and possibly Senators that will work with and for her in 2012 because she was able to show she can get the voters to turn out. Lastly, it shifts the power in Washington away from an extreme liberal super majority to just a liberal majority (might even flip the House). This makes it possible for at least a split and possible conservative majority in 2012 which she will need in order to overturn much of the Obamanation’s illegal and socialist laws that he has crammed down our throats.

Depends on what she does between now and the 2010 elections.
