POLITICO: Palin plans to stay visible
Politico ^ | 7/3/2009 | Mike Allen

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to remain extremely visible and will give serious consideration to running for president in 2012, but has made no decision, a close friend said after her startling announcement Friday that she will resign her office.

Friends say Palin plans to spend time writing her book, which is due this fall, then promote it heavily when it comes out in spring 2010.

Palin is by far the Republican Party's biggest draw for fund-raisers and conservative events, and the friends say she plans to spend a lot of time traveling in "the lower 48" states, as Alaskans call the continental U.S.

Those friends say she plans to give a series of paid speeches, and will also make free GOP appearances, raising money for the party and for issues. She also plans to help other candidates, collecting political IOUs for herself.

Anyone endorsed by the establishment that endorsed McCain is tainted and won’t get my vote.

We need someone with a soul who is willing to tell it like it is. Not a panderer to the masses like seems to be the direction of the Republican party these days. Republicans will always fail at the Democrat’s game. Its a given.

We will be facing some very serious issues in the future and we don’t need someone who will sugar coat if for us.

Yes, I know — people want to be told what they want to hear. Maybe that is the root of the problem.

The book will be all about committment, not about her commitment to the people of Alaska or about the oath she took when she was sworn into office, mind you, but about her commitment to her own ambition.

Palin is totally unqualified to be president of the United States, and the current conservative lovefest with her is a sign of deep political delusion on the right.

You hit it directly. I believe that is exactly why she did what she did. This conservative woman is a fighter and we shall see her turn on her detractors with guns blazing.

Just what about her “plan” bypasses the media? If Palin is running for president, the marxist media is going to be all over her just as they’ve been all over her as the governor of Alaska and a candidate for Vice President. The only way that walking away from your job in the middle of your term is going to “bypass” the media is through total obscurity. The only way to defeat the left wing MSM is by confronting them. Being a good president is a tough job that requires big sacrifices, limitless energy, and a thick skin. If she drops out, that means she doesn’t measure up. Unfortunately, the Republican field is looking increasingly empty, but it might be better to have a clear field instead of the awful retreads that have dominated it for a couple decades.

I hope Sarah is out attacking the Marxist Obama and the Democrats every day. I hope she can be a great advocate of conservative principles. Voters will be counting down the days until they get to replace Barry with Sarah!!

Simply listen to her words and look into her eyes. That’s where the truth is.

She is not like other politicians.

She is real, she tells the truth, she loves her country and want’s to help it heal..... listen to her words and look into her eyes.

Wow, and people talk about the Obamabots drinking the Kool- Aid. This cult of personality around "Sarah!" is just like it.

Count me as one of the 60 million delusional, righty, knuckle-draggers who voted for her.

The media helping the Rinos and Democrats made most think the same about Reagan. If she gets it right, she will connect with Americans above the hate/dumb talk. It is a big if. She probably does not plan to run rather sell her book and get out of debt. The Demo harrassment in Alaska cost her family a lot.

While I liek her as a candidate- I wish she’d reconcider running, as she will be the only remaining candidate, and the press will eat her alive, turnign hte ocutnry against her just like they did this last time- She can’t win with the vehemence in the press towards her, and the GOP will lose hte election again

I’m watching her speech on Fox right now and I sense she is excited about the future, a future that will include a run for the White House. I’d say there is 0 chance of her retiring from politics. She “felt the love” at the GOP convention with her marvelous speech and I’d say her sights are set on the next convention at the top of the ticket.

Oh, yeah, that's right McCain—the man who 1st brought her to prominence—is now an a-hole Didn't you hear her say that and how she was ashamed to stand next to him today when she thanked him for picking her? /s

Palin is totally unqualified to be president of the United States.
______________________

I agree that she is currently unqualified. And she has had her times when she doesn’t come across as very smart. I think, however, that if she articulates the conservative case well over the long-haul, and gains savvy in the political game, she may be president someday, or may inspire someone else who will be a good president. Ronald Reagan was “unqualified”, too. He was a b-movie actor with a B.A. in economics from an obscure college. He built the case for himself and his approach after he left the governorship of California over the course of many years of thinking, writing, appearances, a failed presidential campaign (against Ford, right?) and wasn’t president until he was an old man.

[I completely bought into the media’s portrayal of Reagan as dumb as a rock, at the time. It was only when I got into my tax law course in Law School in the late 80s that the lightbulb went on, and I was really grateful for his simplification of the tax code, for the benefit of ordinary taxpayers.]

I think both the gung-ho supporters and the virulent detractors may be overheated in their opinions and predictions. I think she will be a net positive influence in conservative politics, and perhaps that’s all that can be surmised now.

In the meantime, at least I get to see some heartwarming pictures of Todd Palin and family, occasionally.

I couldn’t say it any better. She radiated decency and strength today. And the move was tactically brilliant.

I’m proud of her and I’m proud to support her.
