POLITICO: Palin plans to stay visible
Politico ^ | 7/3/2009 | Mike Allen

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to remain extremely visible and will give serious consideration to running for president in 2012, but has made no decision, a close friend said after her startling announcement Friday that she will resign her office.

Friends say Palin plans to spend time writing her book, which is due this fall, then promote it heavily when it comes out in spring 2010.

Palin is by far the Republican Party's biggest draw for fund-raisers and conservative events, and the friends say she plans to spend a lot of time traveling in "the lower 48" states, as Alaskans call the continental U.S.

Those friends say she plans to give a series of paid speeches, and will also make free GOP appearances, raising money for the party and for issues. She also plans to help other candidates, collecting political IOUs for herself.

She doesn’t have to martyr herself and sacrifice her family to satisfy our “need” for her to “following through” with the job. The GOP has stood silent while the wolves savaged both her and her family. She owes them nothing.

Besides FR, what’s the best way for me to keep current with Sarah Palin news?

This conversation reminds me of Dr. Laura's opposition to Palin's candidacy because Palin wasn't staying home to care for her children.

Dr. Laura is a sanctimonious, b*tchy little hypocrite. For all her bloviating about morality she slept with her then married boss, broke up his marriage, lied about the relationship for years and has never quite owned up to her harlot status because she felt she was absolved of it because she married the crusty old toad. She also lectures people about adoptions and not being obsessed with seeking infertility treatments when she herself spend booku bucks try to impregnate herself with the adulterers spawn. She's an abject fraud and as a Christian just the sort Paul warned about, proud, judgmental to a fault and fully out of her prayer closet with her public pronouncements of her own piety. I actual know someone who's kid interned with her and she said she is an aloof, arrogant, skinny little phoney. Being for participatory motherhood and against sleeping around is a no-brainer, glad she made a career of talking it and not walking it. And I feel very uncomfortable taking advice from someone who devolved theologically from Christianity..back the Judaism(Sorry Jewish Freepers)

My dream is that she has decided to devote all her time to rid congress of the 8 Rinos that voted for the Cap and Tax bill. Then pay a nice little visit with Mr. Steele and let him know what the Republican Party should stand for. If Steele doesn’t comply with her demands….then she has 3 years to build a 3rd party that truly stands for the people.
Let’s face it, she’s not hated by the left, she’s feared by the left. They’re scared to death of this woman and for good reason. When we go into battle in 2012 don’t you want your most feared general going into battle for you? This woman is like Patton, and the left knows it.

[RE: Rick Perry???? Now that’s a laugh!]

OK, the man is not totally popular, but look, he won a third term and his state is one of the very few that has actually weathered the financial storm better ( relatively ) than most of the others. Of course, he, along with a few others was one of the few governors who was against the Federal stimulus money because it had too many strings attached.

As for experience, hey, you can’t get better experience than being governor for 3 terms of one of the nation’s largest states. He’s more experienced than Sarah Palin and just as good in terms of energy policy.

I’ll grant this — the country probably won’t want another Texan as president, but that’s another story.

Mike Allen called Palin a “circus act” so I wouldn’t be giving him too much credit

Where are the “heroes” of the Republican party that have come to Sarah’s aid?

They're busy developing a taste for tall grass...

You just gotta love headlines like this one:

What nonsense SaraJohnson. That whole McBipartisan (McCain) sour grapes, made up story is pure fiction. She was light years ahead of Onada (Alaska governor) in terms of preparation and who is sitting in the WH today? Onada. A Marxist ideolgue who had done nothing but sign up dead voters to vote democrat before running for president. Sara, on the other hand, actually governed.

Are you telling me that McBipartisan lost because he wasn’t prepared either? Afterall, he was the GOP presidential candidate. McBipartisan lost because he ran a lethargic and stupid campaign. Moreover, the only difference between him and Onada, politically, could be measured in a few degrees.

It is strange to me that Gov. Palin, who’s state remains fiscally solvent despite the recession, under her leadership, is denigrated by people like you. By all objective accounts she has done a masterful job as Alaska’s governor. And Alaskans who have a brain love her for it.

Anyone who runs against their party’s machine and wins, as Palin did, is special. Anybody that succeeds in beating the cabal of Alaskan politicians and American-owned petroleum companies is special. Anybody that faces down and prevails over the scurrilous and false fraud charges made by members of her own party and the demrats is special.

Perhaps your problem with Palin is that she really is a conservative in both words and deeds. If you’re a RINO, I can understand why she scares you.

I doubt that she would have a chance. She isn’t part of the Republican establishment.

You don't understand. The rules are about to change. It doesn't matter what the republican establishment wants.....this is going to be 100% grass roots. 1) No one can attract people like Palin at grassroots events 2) I doubt that anyone will be able to raise the cash that she can especially from the small donors [and we won't even need acorn to commit fraud....it'll be real cash from real people.] 3) Rush, Levin and others will promote the hell out of her.

“At first I thought resigning would look awful, but this piece certaintly puts the game plan on the table, and I got to say... Absolutely Genius.”

The resignation will be forgotten.

If she’s doing what I think she’s doing, she’s gonna pull a Reagan: build a loyal grassroots from the bottom up and run from it. The first thing she’ll do is work to revitalize a moribund and worthless GOP for 2010.

With no small amount of irony, there is a scenario emerging where I could have to actively support the GOP. God certainly has a sense of humor.

“She can’t win with the vehemence in the press towards her, and the GOP will lose the election again.”

The government run media is going to try to destroy whoever runs against Pres. Obama. That’s why any opposition candidate who wants a chance has to go around the media. So she’ll spend the next 2 years doing speeches, doing everything she can to build a base that isn’t going to listen to the government run media anyway.

I think he’s on vacation. Great timing for him. Just builds the suspense.

“I would be surprised if she is even in the news by this time next year. “

Well of course the government run media will do what it can to marginalize her.

The resignation will be forgotten. She’ll be coming out swinging soon, and since no other nationally known figure in the GOP has as much spine as a jellyfish, she becomes the de facto head of the party. WITHOUT the constraints and distractions of holding public office several time zones away from the population centers of the lower 48.

True- however, the main stream media has NEVER gone after candidate’s children like they have against Palin- even attackign her child with Down’s Syndrom? That is unconscionable! I’ve not seen this type of vicious attackign by the press before, and unfortunately, IF she runs for Pres, I think the GOP will lose the election because she iwll be so maligned i nthe press that she’ll not even stand a slight chance of winning- You can bet that the MSM wouldn’t be attackign the children of other candidates liek they have been hers because they would never stand for it, but because she’s not a strong vocal person (authority wise), the press just walks all over her knowing they can get away with bloody murder

She’s a good candidate ethics, and conservative values-wise, but she simply doesn’t have the speaking authority she needs to fight back agaisnt the creeps that attack her so vicously, and it’s my beleif that if she is hte last one standing during hte campaign, that the GOP will lose because the MSM will manage to damage her image in the minds of hte public (who have already seemed to have lost hteir minds- votign for the socialist obama KNOWING FULL WELL he was goign to tax the snot out of us and ruin this country financially)

Don’t jump out of the Republican party before Palin runs, she will need your vote in the primaries unless your state allows cross-over voting. In fact, consider running for a local precinct committee rep position. I remember back in the 70’s when my folks and other Reagan supporters did that and started taking over the Republican party at the grassroots level. That’s how we stick it to the Beltway RINOs.

If Palin jumps the Republican party and starts a third party (ATP, the American Tea Party, maybe?), I’m right there with her.
