LONDON // Britain should stop trying to be “a mini-United States” and give up maintaining armed forces capable of policing world trouble spots, a report from an influential think tank said yesterday.

After a two-year review, the high-powered panel of experts said the UK simply could not afford its international role and recommended slashing £24 billion (Dh146bn) from proposed defence spending.

Given incompetent obozo & group running the US into the ground, I’d separate myself from a sinking ship too.

This is a sad reprise of what befell Great Britain after WW II. She determined then that the empire was unsustainable and would need to be disassembled, and that UK could not afford its previous eminent role as a world power.

It appears that Brittania is about to slip beneath the waves she once ruled.

I blame all the Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Australian and New Zealand Independence movements for the decline of Great Britain. Nice work, guys, how does it feel to be all independent and respected by NOBODY???!!!!

She didn’t “determine” anything. All the Marxist-backed “Independence” movements that infiltrated the members of the UK, destroyed her while they flooded her with Muslim immigrants and put them on the dole.

That's amusing since they gave up that capability in about 1975 (the Falklands was a fluke of good luck).

You can also add the Canadian movement as well...they’re also part of the Commonwealth.

Maybe they can be a mini- Belgium...

Because those personal tax rates work out so well..

I often wonder, where is left in the world to live that socialist/marxist countries won't try to over run..

Really? Ireland was one of the foremost economic success stories of the past 20 years, and Australia is ascendant in Oceania. Your take is a bit of a stretch. Should the people of those countries have just accepted their roles? Under that logic, the people of the Ukraine should be clamoring for the return of the Soviet Union, as they would then be “respected,” whatever that means to you.

Too late. Peacetime's over, guys - they're going to need more armed forces to support the EU, not less. The U.S. defense umbrella was designed to oppose the Soviet Union, not make up for suicidal immigration policies. On that one, the EU is on its own, and frankly it isn't doing very well at the moment.

Candyland's over and it's time to claim the empire back from the barbarians or go under. We couldn't help with that if we wanted to.

Yup, it costs to much to keep those Muslims (and their muliple wives) on the Dole. And the economic justification for bringing them in was what, exactly?
