-snip- The opposition website Rooz Online carried what it said was an interview with a man the government had shipped in to Tehran to quell the demonstrations. He said he was being paid 2m rial (£122) per day to assault protesters with a heavy wooden stave, and that other volunteers, most of them from far-flung provinces, were being kept in hostel accommodation, reportedly in east Tehran.
With the independent media banned from covering street protests, the reports could not be verified.
There were also unconfirmed reports tonight that Zahra Rahnavard, the wife of opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, had been arrested. Earlier in the day she had called on the authorities to release Iranians who had been detained.

How long hasn’t that been true though? BTW, Michael Jackson died.
Our news media is a joke. All I see is Oh NOO Michael Jackson died! I want to know about Neda, her life, and why she was murdered in cold blood by an evil tyrant. I do not give one f**king s**t about michael jackson. I want to know why people in iran and north korea live in HELL ON EARTH. The last bastion of Freedom has turned its back on Freedom. Our press has failed us, the illegitimate usurper, Obama is a failure and a liar. All that remains is us, those who can see the truth for what it is, and that is stark.
Michael Jackson died, who cares about Iran.
Bring forth the mullahs to Obama’s negotiation table.
Tic, tic, tic.... Freedom as we’ve known it in the USA is about to disappear. I urge everyone to make calls to the following to stop cap and trade!
Please call these Congress critters, who are identified as the
LEVIN SURGE - CALL THESE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS AT

Thanks for the listing.
I’m afraid the days of effectiveness of our calls, emails, and faxes is over. IMO, we are not and will no longer be heard here in the US without an Iranian-style “REVOLUTION”. Props to them for their courage.
You may be right but I’ll be damned if I’m going to fiddle while watching our ‘Rome’ burn. We also need to pray for our country - we’re in very big trouble.
Get back on focus to Iran as coverage of overseas events while helping the Iranian people cripple the mullah’s republic of Iran.
The congressmen and senators have been bought and paid for, swear allegiance to Big Brother (save a few, like RP).
Although Neda Soltani lived a quiet normal and peaceful civilian life compared to Michael Jackson, she was in the worst wrong place at the worst possible time, when a Basiji militiaman with an AK scaled a wall, climbed atop a building, took aim at Neda and BANG!
One shot claimed the life of an innocent Iranian woman. Shot in front of her dad.
Now Mr. Soltani has been crying over the loss of his daughter.
THIS JUST IN!!!! MICHEAL JACKSON IS STILL DEAD.
LOL...you managed to capture the entire absurdity of the media coverage in two sentences. Well done. :)
