ACORN may be about to embark on a huge rebranding effort in order to reinvent itself...disgraced ACORN founder Wade Rathke has renamed ACORN International, which is ACORN's international consultancy....Rathke is trying to dissociate the ACORN affiliate from the oceans of bad ink ACORN has received in the U.S. over the last year.

The new name for the international affiliate is Community Organizations International.

ACORN drops tarnished name and moves to silence critics

Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) leaders are using the threat of a law suit to silence and intimidate critics, according to current and former members of the liberal activist group.

In a letter dated June 11 an attorney for ACORN advised top whistleblowers that their unauthorized use of the organization’s name could make them liable for monetary damages and injunctive relief.

ACORN International Changes Its Name. Why? ,p>IMHO, to avoid the several lawsuits coming down the legal pike.

I believe once and organization changes it's name, it becomes a 'new' legal entity. The 'new' entity is not liable for what the 'old' entity has done.
