As most of you know, for years John Aravosis and Americablog have been one of the most readable and provocative of the progressive blog sites. Idiocyncratic for sure (which is a good thing), not always certain of its place in the world, it has been a second home for me (after Dailykos).
But I have been banned from posting comments. Why? Because I took exception to the use of Malcolm X's "House Negro" comment in reference to those gay leaders who are going to a White House reception next week.
I am gay myself, totally committed to our getting our rights, and frustrated by the incompetence of the Obama administration in the last few weeks. Americablog has been a (maybe the) leading blog in raising the red flag about this - and should be congratulated for it.
But since this has become their main focus, the site has become more often than not over the top, hysterical, misleading on facts and generally totally convinced that confrontation, boycotts, name-calling and assumption of people's motives are the way to go in correcting the recent problems.
In the last couple days, the site has denounced and ridiculed gay leaders invited to a White House reception next week (this is different from calling for a boycott of the gay DNC fundraiser, which I totally agree with). The most recent post from Avarois was one quoting Malcolm X on people in the civil rights movement whose tactics he disagreed with - his famous "House Negro" speech.

I’m guessing that if we offered the gays a choice of either: A. the right to gay marriage or B. the right to sex with underage boys or C. the repeal of all public lewdness laws - that B. or C. would win - if they voted honestly.

LOL! The only “internal fights” we have on FR is dis/agreeing on how insane and retarded “progressives” really are. Any inbred who fell for that “hopey-changey” marketing slogan should have their heads examined.
He should just accuse them of Homophobia and call his Congressman demanding the “Fairness Doctrine” for the internet?

That’s quite a naive statement as even families have less than “civil” discussions. It is human nature that not everyone will agree and some will become angry because of it. Libs are such children.
After reading all of this, i still feel dirty even after a shower. Yuk. These folks are screwed up. No wonder so many wind up on the psycho couch.
My prayer is that he uses the free will that G-d gave him and turn back to the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Nothing else is as important as that.
hmmmmmm...I wonder if the gay mafia will start outing, blackmailing and making stories up out of whole cloth about dems and Obama like they did with republicans?
