Tom Cox, president of the Arkansas Tea Party organization, will announce his candidacy for the Senate on Monday at a gathering of the Arkansas Tea Party group in downtown Little Rock.
Cox, who plans to run in the Republican primary, is the first leader of the grassroots anti-tax movement to run for federal office. He is seeking the Senate seat held by Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln.
The local businessman, who has not previously run for elected office, became involved in the Tea Party movement after watching CNBC host Rick Santellis February rant against the federal stimulus.
. . . . .
Cox, the owner of Aloha Pontoon Boats, also has a past controversy he will likely have to explain to voters.
Federal authorities raided his North Little Rock boat manufacturing plant last summer, arresting thirteen suspected illegal immigrants.

Amazing how quickly that tidbit about the illegal immigrants came out.
As far as the illegals go: Have him run as a Dem, get elected, then pull an Arlen.
Well, at least he'll get the "latino" vote, right? Right? Damn crickets.
Anybody know what a "SUSPECTED" illegal immigrant is? Is that like being a little bit pregnant?
The media will not leave any stone unturned when battling us, will they?
‘Amazing how quickly that tidbit about the illegal immigrants came out.”
It’s an important “tidbit”. Can’t we find ANY conservative candidates who don’t support illegal aliens/amnesty?
Coming from libs that’s rich - after all, ‘they’ are only doing jobs Americans won’t do. It should be an incentive for the libs to cross the aisle and vote for him. /s
He may not support it - just needs to compete with those that do the same in business.
That’s a big “whoops!”
More like an instant DQ.
Unless he employs thousands of people, you think he’d be smart enough to check.
“He may not support it - just needs to compete with those that do the same in business.”
Same difference. Illegal is illegal.
No you won’t until guys like mccain and in the closet lindsey grahm are thrown out on their ass##
That goes for anyone who supports illegal aliens/amnesty.
AR never supported Abraham Lincoln, but it has its own Lincoln for years to come.
I guess we can say then that people in AZ and SC disagree with us.
One of the candidates in this GOP primary race is the brother-in-law of the Hutchinson brothers.
Thank God they found out about this tidbit. You think he deserves to win???? Heck no!!! Isn’t it illegal to hire illegals? Isn’t that one of our issues that conservatives do not support? Sheesh what website are you on anyway.
Take a deep breath. How about we hear from him about this issue before throwing him under the bus. If the allegation is true, then so be it. If not, then this was an obvious ploy to get people like you all fired up and voting for a dem. You know, to “teach them a lesson”.
