The Alameda, Calif., public schools are adopting a curriculum that will require first graders to read literature that equates same-sex unions with a family made up of a mother, father and child.
Parents will not be allowed to opt their first graders out of the curriculum.
Members of the Alameda United School District (AUSD) school board voted 3 to 2 last week to implement the “Safe Schools” curriculum, which supporters say is aimed at stopping anti-homosexual bullying in schools.
The program includes a between one and four lessons each year between grades 1 and 5 to introduce students to “LGBT” (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual) issues.
As part of the curriculum, second graders will be exposed to books like “And Tango Makes Three”--a story book about two male penguins who hatch an egg and raise a chick together in New York’s Central Park Zoo--and first graders will see “Who’s in a Family?” which exposes students to a variety of “different” family structures.

The discussion plan for “Who’s In a Family?” includes asking students to identify a type of family they see in the book.

California parents - Sacrifice the two incomes, the expensive home, the two car payments and do something for your children - homeschool them.
How do they know Tango makes three? It’s not like they can add.
Private schools are the answer. They could also save millions by having families feed their own kids.
I remember when “3 is a magic number” was drilled into my brain by PBS. I’ll never get that tune out of my head.

PS. When additional female penguins were added to the zoo. They went back to women. You see, it wasn’t about sex at all. In fact single male penguins have been known to sit on a rock as if it were an egg.

Even if you were a homo advocate, and belived that whole thing was great. What kind of monster cannot see the innocence of children needs to be preserved as long as possible? FIRST GRADE??

I can hardly wait for the first muslim 1st grader to tell his or her parents about the teachings of the infidels. It will be fun to watch the liberals panic.

PBS? Are you sure that was not School House Rock? I think that, in fact was Multiplication Rock that sang “3 is the magic number” That was shown ever Saturday morning, I have it on VHS...somewhere. I was always bad at X tables!
I believe that is seriously unConstitutional and there is legal precedent against that.
However, it's high time to opt "the children" entirely out of that school and avail oneself of the alternatives to education (private school, home school or charter school).

If I ever work for a district that proposes this curriculum, I will post the names and photos of all members of the board on every single wall in town. These scum should not be allowed to get away with this.
The mistake here is to think that this is just a problem for Alameda. This type of curriculum is now mandated by SB 777 for every public school in CA, no exceptions. Alameda is a little ahead of some school districts in implementation, and there are still probably more sane parents left in Alameda who object to this than in the typical CA district. So, Alameda gets the publicity, but this type of curriculum is now the law in CA and no parent can opt a child out - except by doing what he should have done all along - get his children out of the government school system.
The family is the primary conduit of passing on the knowledge of God and Christ.
THIS is why it is under attack.
(America and Western Civ are based on Christian principles, so yes, they are going to go down when the family is destroyed, too.)
Not sure here. Isn’t that using the school system in order to teach a political doctrine? What do they mean ‘parents cannot opt out’? Where are the lawyers when you really need them?
Parents? The parents may have the best intentions inthe world, but these kids are taught IN SCHOOL that, sexually, their parents lack accurate information about "sexualities" (plural), are old-fashioned, bigoted, and/or simply don't have a clue.
I work at two private elementary schools in a city with some of the worst public schools in the country. Kids in the 2nd grade are already finished with long division and essay writing ;)

This is an ultimately an attack on the ideal of marriage between a man and woman, a bedrock of civilization. Traditional marriage has long been under assault by Big Government, the destruction of much of the black family structure can be traced to the folly of welfare. Divorce percentages keep rising throughout all strata of socity.
Equating deviant same-sex unions marriage further diminishes the traditional institution of traditional marriage. Ah'm agin it.
I find that the effects are worse when you start teaching “sexualities” at the late middle school/early high school level. Teenagers love to rebel in both physical and intellectual ways. Little children don’t understand sexuality and don’t really care so they ignore the weird stuff for the most part. They just want to finish doing homework and play innocent games.
Children are confused about many things at that early age. Tell them about the dangers of drugs and they think mommy’s an addict for popping an aspirin.

I don’t think children younger then that need to get into specifics.

Well...a couple of years ago my husband and I decided to home school our kids. This meant me not working full time. We gave up my income, vacations, fancy cars and electronics to do something I have not regretted for one second. HOWEVER, when my husbands insurance went up and we were on the line for $1000 a month (yes, a month!) we had to make some decisions. Do I put my kids back into CA school system or do we look at other options like joining Healthy Families. Well, we joined Healthy Families. My husband and I have always worked (even now I work part time), we've never been on welfare, used food stamps, been on WIC, we pay our taxes, and pay for our children's schooling. But I learned a couple of days ago from a few Freepers - that apparently, I'm the scum of the earth. I can't win!
They remove God from the schools and usher in political re-education in its place.
It is one thing to say that “these things may not be discussed in schools”, it is quite another to say “THIS is the New morality AND you WILL bow to it”.
We are already organizing parents to do just that. Openly, publicly, LOUDLY, and to hold PRAYERS outside the school on the days they pull out their kids. alameda doesn't know what will hit it in September.

Read the California Education Code, assembly bills, et al. Find out everything they are required to do. MAKE them do it. For instance, perhaps parents have a right to preview or see curricula. Learn all about the what will be taught and exactly how many minutes will be spent on it. Perhaps there is a contradiction somewhere - for instance maybe x number of minutes is required to be spent on reading and when you do the math, adding this program means that the math minutes requirement can’t be met. Get legislation or a prop. to the effect that so many minutes of the school day must be spent on academics, or that no more than x number can be spent on social issues, etc. If you can get the curricula yourself then teach your kids about propaganda and point out the errors, inconsistencies and tell them what they will be required to respond. In other words innoculate them mentally and help them learn to spot where and when they are being agendized.
People who go to these kinds of schools elect Morons to the Whitehouse.

they only get money from the fed when those kids are present in class. mine would damm sure not be there. no way.
