That is an interesting statement. A couple of days ago there was a thread running about how CA wants to dismantle the Healthy Families insurance program for low income familes. Everyone on that thread moaned and groaned about the leeches in the state who use the program. They were lazy and piggy backing off of the hard working people.

Well...a couple of years ago my husband and I decided to home school our kids. This meant me not working full time. We gave up my income, vacations, fancy cars and electronics to do something I have not regretted for one second. HOWEVER, when my husbands insurance went up and we were on the line for $1000 a month (yes, a month!) we had to make some decisions. Do I put my kids back into CA school system or do we look at other options like joining Healthy Families. Well, we joined Healthy Families. My husband and I have always worked (even now I work part time), we've never been on welfare, used food stamps, been on WIC, we pay our taxes, and pay for our children's schooling. But I learned a couple of days ago from a few Freepers - that apparently, I'm the scum of the earth. I can't win!
