The recent convert to Islam who allegedly shot and killed a U.S. soldier at a Little Rock, Ark., recruiting booth had ties to a number of global locations linked to extremists, including Yemen, Somalia and Columbus, Ohio, ABC News has learned.
Yemen and Somali are known hotbeds for terrorism. Columbus, Ohio, has been an area of domestic concern for authorities who have observed a number of Somali Americans traveling from there to Somali to wage jihad.
Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, upon his arrest Monday shortly after the fatal shooting, allegedly confessed and told authorities he acted alone, according to court documents. But prior to the shooting, Muhammad had been the subject of a preliminary investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force since his return from Yemen, where he was arrested and had in his possession a false Somali passport, ABC News has learned.
And now, officials say, the FBI and the CIA are engaged in an intense effort to reconstruct Muhammad's path to extremism -- and allegedly to murder -- taking apart his life, examining his friendships, educational records, travel within the United States and possible contacts with extremists overseas.

At least ABC is reporting on this in a serious way. Niether NBC or CBS has touched it. Good Morning America and ABC World news both had somewhat lengthy pieces last night, where as CBC and NBC didn’t even mention it.

There is a large community of Somalians in the southwest Columbus area. The school system has had to go to great extremes to accommodate them. I’m not sure why the chose the area.

We had two young,brave men serving and protecting our country shot down in cold blood by a Muslim. One has died and I don't know about the second at this moment. As far as I know the president has not made a public statement about this attack on these brave men. That should have been done straightway with anger at the killer and condolence to their loved ones and the Nation.

My experience has been Somalia is the north side, Morse Rd. area. The southwest quadrant is Mexico.
The Somali community used to be concentrated in the Morse Rd./161/Blendon Twp. area. Has that changed in the last couple of years?

The folks at Stratfor just sent out message saying that sources at the FBI are now saying that they had been told, quite strongly, to “back-off” all Black Muslim converts by the higher ups.
Looks like the FBI does not want to be hung with this one by the new administration.
The obvious implication is that this is first US terror attack that can be tied, directly, to actions by the Obama Administration. Didn’t take long.

I have since heard that this may have been an “informal” executive order as prep. for the Middle East visit this week. They wanted to convey that the US does not “persecute” Muslims internally.
Apparently, O & Co. felt this makes us look like China or other nations that attack religious “dissidents” for political reasons.
How they draw the moral equivalency on this defies common sense, but there it is.
