GM confirms plans to build compact cars in US

General Motors Corp. said Friday that it plans to reopen a shuttered U.S. factory to build compact cars that will likely be the smallest vehicles GM has ever produced here.

All they need to do is look Honda, Toyota and VW sales over the last 30 years to prove that it is impossible to sell small cars in the USA. /sarcasm

Vehicles too tiny for the needs of most Americans, with all the styling of a crumpled shoebox, built with legendary UAW quality.
What a great plan to save GM - at least for those of us who own Ford stock.

I have 4 kids, 3 of which are or will be teen boys, there is just no way I will buy a tiny car for a long, long time.

Besides, I only buy used cars.
Besides, I only buy Honda/Toyota/Subaru.
Certainly not anything from Government Motors.

However, Americans have not shied away from small cars over the last 30 years, but have instead embraced Hondas, Toyotas, etc.
