New York Times Finally Admits It Spiked Obama/ACORN Corruption Story
By Matthew Vadum
Acknowledging what the blogosphere has known for weeks, the New York Times finally went on record to admit that just before last Election Day it killed a politically sensitive news story involving corruption allegations that might have made the Obama campaign look bad.
But the admission on Sunday, which came seven months after NYT staff reporter Stephanie Strom's reporting about possibly illegal coordination between the Obama campaign and ACORN last year, took the form of a snarky column from Clark Hoyt, the Old Gray Lady's "public editor."
Hoyt used the word "nonsense" to describe the allegations of impropriety leveled against ACORN and the Obama campaign.
Hoyt writes in the Sunday New York Times
On March 17, a Republican lawyer, quoting a confidential source for a Times reporter, testified to Congress that the newspaper killed a story last fall because it would have been "a game-changer" in the presidential election.
The charge, amplified by Bill O'Reilly on Fox News in April and reverberating around the conservative blogosphere, is about the most damning allegation that can be made against a news organization.
If true, it would mean that Times editors, whose job is to report the facts without fear or favor, were so lacking in integrity that they withheld an important story in order to influence the election.

Yeah, this’ll be above the fold all over the MSM.
(do I need the /sarc tag?)
The sad thing is, I’m not the slightest bit shocked or surprised by any of this....
OMG- should have checked this. Sorry!
All the news that’s fit to print-Unless it might make a DEMOCRAT look bad....
Or harm the “Gay Agenda”....
So what’s the protocol for this? Or, in the case of this bottom of the barrel admin, is protocol right out the window?
We all know that Zero was born in a 3rd world toilet. Maybe he’s using the NYT as toilet paper!
Come, come. They do that every day. Only normally they don't bother to write the story in the first place before spiking it.
Evidently this reporter didn't get the message that this story was verboten.
They wonder why readership is at an all time low....
They have been lacking in integrity for about 20 years.
70 years.
This time, the editors have no wiggle room. They can no longer wink at their own bias then deny, deny, deny it exists. This time, there is proof and an admission of guilt. They’re nailed.
Unfortunately, only a few miserable wretches at the Times will be singled out and executed for this journalistic atrocity (though they were probably facing layoffs soon enough, anyway). This scandal will hurt the Times, but it won’t be fatal.
The fatal blow will be the NEXT time this happens. Then, with the precedent set, it would be clear to all that the bias runs deep and can’t be blamed on any maverick individuals. If that happens, it’s Grey Lady Down for sure.
P.S. Speaking of Zero’s campaign finances, is there any lawsuit coming?
NYT replacing the old Sear’s Catalogue one outhouse at a time.
What a worthless bunch running the place - the NYT not outhouses.
I am complacent about it, I accepted long ago that the MSM truly is the propaganda arm of the socialist left.
Like when Bush ran against Gore in 2000 and CBS's Dan Rather called Florida early for Gore to keep Bush voters home?
