John and Elizabeth Edwards have proven themselves the perfect match. On the one hand, you've got a lying, hypocritical, power-hungry narcissist. And then there's her husband. Yes, I've heard that she has cancer. I think it might have been mentioned on the campaign trail once or twice, in 2008. "Vote for me, my wife has cancer!" Actually, the argument was more sophisticated than that. It was, "My wife has cancer, so I'm an expert on health care, so the federal government should take over health, I'm really sorry I voted for the war, subject of course to changing conditions on the ground. Vote for me!"

“Elizabeth Edwards Is No Saint”
Neither am I.
In certain instances pity may not be warranted.
Is Edwards' book sensational? Yes. Profitable? Yes. Are there human consequences? Picture what it's like for her kids in school this week.
100% on-target.
Didn’t Elizabeth Edwards have incurable cancer just last year?
I absolutely sympathize with E. Edwards. However, she apparently knew early on about her husband and his girlfriend. She chose to support him in his campaign and in his lies. Did she really think he would be a good president?
Unfortunately, I think most of us would prefer an ordinary smarmy crook like him to what we’ve currently got.
It has been several years that the cancer thing has been going on with “death expected” any day now...but she still seems to be fairly alive, vital and kicking! I’m wondering just how sick she really is!
I am guessing neither of you have ever gone through someone dying of breast cancer? My sister-in-law died from it and it was 8 years between when she was diagnosed and when she passed away. There are a lot of things to criticize the Edwards about, but breast cancer is incurable and death is not instantaneous.
Yep. I completely agree. Sad but true.
Elizabeth Edwards is delusional if she thinks John can worm his way back into politics.
His crime was not philandering, it was staying in the race long enough to sink Hillary. He will never be forgiven for that.
If she truly has it and it is indeed incurable, she has my sympathies.
However, it the claim is a campaign ploy, it becomes a different matter.
And, for the record, my ex-mother in-law and all of her sisters all had to undergo double mastecomies for it. I am not entirely unsympathetic to it. In fact, I worry about my own two daughters still.
But, as said, if it is used to grab sypmathy votes, that is completely wrong.
i agree with you. i am just pointing out that quibbling over the time-line since her diagnosis, isn’t necessarily fair.
Failing the Cancer card, Elizabeth Edwards would be a contemptible sellout. Which means, she is a contemptible sellout who just happens btw to have some kind of cancer.
Edwards espouses views noxious to the survival of this nation, despite her personally unfortunate illness and the fact that her husband is such a crud. In my line of business, I see end-stage cancer and death quite frequently having wrapped quite a few folks for the morgue.
The lethality of breast cancer depends on the type of cancer, the staging, relative health and age, and level of metastasis. The statistical tables regarding breast cancer deaths are in need of updating, I suspect. More and more I am seeing breast cancer survivors in their 60’s to 80’s (who were treated years ago for breast cancer) who are dying for other causes, generally pneumonia, heart disease, or complications related to end stage renal failure and diabetes(another words old age related issues).
So while I don’t wish cancer on any-one, and I certainly understand her desire to keep her children secure and stable after she dies(ie. the book), she still is a liberal democrat whose views are poisonous to America. You bet I am critical, and I question how sick and physically unstable she truly is!
Nor is using it for sympathy votes. After a while you begin wondering the validity of the claim.
Come on now, we all know that liberals care little about actions and outcomes. It’s what they say that matters most.
Actually, I think this article is thoroughly deserved. Sure, it’s hard to have breast cancer and a cheatin’, ambulance chasin’ husband. Until you start selling your story for profit and use all of it to try to get back into power. She’s STILL trying to spin it so she can get back into power. Do we really need these crooked liars running things, just because they want us to feel sorry for them?
Somone needs to tell it like it is, for her sake as well as the voters. If she really IS dying of cancer, then it’s time to straighten out her life and herself and her husband and stop being a leech on society.
And this article, mean as it is, does it very good job of it.
No need to criticize or be mean with regards her cancer.
GOD knows I would not wish that on any enemy.
We all know there is enough to drag the Edwards through the mud about with out including her cancer.
I agree. And we don’t know her exact diagnosis etc. I have seen more than one person insinuate that simply because she hasn’t croaked in the past 2.5 years since they went public, she must be faking. All i want to do is correct that misimpression. Lord knows, she may be faking, but the timeline since diagnosis is not proof of that.
Good, so let’s just get back to kicking the Edwards around on their merits.
;-)
ok, i despise her for lying to cover up his adultery and standing by while he was awarded the Father of the Year all while he was impregnating the other one! how’s that? ; )
From what I hear he’s made a hundred million suing baby doctors when tragedy occurs.
I feel sorry for his children. All of them. As for the adults? Garbage.
Like Hillary, she is an enabler.
Life’s good,
Happy moms day.
Thanks! i had a good one, except my oldest is down at the U of Dallas finishing up her finals and won’t be home til next Sunday.
Btw, i am a lawyer who despises ambulance chasers. John Edwards is scum.
Breast cancer is curable if caught in time, though, mom. Sometimes it metastisizes (SP) to another place, which is a real problem.
For many in the US, the consequences they suffer are the result of poor choices. I really have no sympathy for elite, whiney creeps.
Son just finished his finals,
A, 2Bs and a C. Statistics. Not his cup of tea.
Not all Lawyers are bad. two years ago I spent a night in Port Lucaya with a contracts lawyer. Good family man and a good lawyer.
Well, he’s the only lawyer I’ve met....
Man, I bet you’ve heard way too many lawyer jokes. &
Relax mom, she’s fine, you’ve done a good job.
Elizabeth Edwards was one of the most despicable crooked lawyers on earth before her diagnosis, married to her true soulmate, another greedy sociopath in $3000 imported silk suit.
The fact that John Edwards is not in the Obama regime is pure luck. There are many, many people with similar anti-social personalities who ARE in the administration.
I realize that, but once it metastasizes, it’s only a matter of time. Depends on how aggressive the cancer is, I guess. I had a friend die from it this past December, as well. I know breast cancer survivors, also. It’s a nasty disease.
hey, i know lots of lawyers and most are jerks! i like the one i’m married to, though : )
It certainly is. My mother had cancer and fought it valiantly for six years but it inhabited her entire body after a while. She was very brave throughout it all and I learned a lot from her on how to handle adversity.
Whatever sells a book, I guess (or digress).
I’m sorry she has/had cancer (not too up on her), but even if she does, I don’t like her or her politics. Cancer is an equal opportunity sort of illness—it hits the worms as much as it does those who are decent people.
Never ever forget she posts on the DUmpster.
I have no idea what is motivating this woman to write about this stuff, but whatever it is, it doesn’t come from good intentions.
And she also made a veiled threat of a DUmmie riot if Bush won.
“Im wondering just how sick she really is!”
Cancer aside, what she did with her book and on Oprah is pretty sick.
i am very sorry to hear it. my sister-in-law was also very brave and fought valiantly. she was only 54 when she died.
My sister died three years ago of cancer and she lost her two sons, 40 and 36 before she passed on. It runs in that side of the family.
Breast cancer is not curable yet.. It is very treatable and many times it will not show up again for a very very long time if ever.
There’s nothing mean in this article except maybe the first sentence. She KNEW all along his campaign and she should have got off the campaign trail and stay at home with her kids....instead....
She was just on the TODAY show pimping her book.
