Steele: 'There's one Republican Party'
Pravda-CNN Division ^ | 4-19-08 | Martina Stewart

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele rejected the suggestion Monday that the Republican Party is fractured into different ideological or personality-driven factions.

"There's one Republican Party," the GOP head said on Fox News.

"There's not a Newt Gingrich side. There's not a Sarah [Palin] side. There's no Mitt [Romney] side."

Steele also said that the GOP had "bottomed and we hope that's the case." [snip]

"But," Steele cautioned, "whether or not you've bottomed or not, you better have something to say to the American people." "I think the party has now positioned itself to talk about creating wealth versus wealth distribution."

The GOP chair also appeared to try to clean up recent statements by other prominent Republicans who have called President Obama a socialist. "We don't see this president so much as a socialist as we see him as a collectivist." "When you strip away this idea that the individual matters, for this concept of the collective - all of us pulling together and working towards some governmental goal - that's what I'm more concerned about," Steele added.

As the GOP seeks to reclaim its mantle of small government and fiscal conservatism, Steele also took a shot at the president over government spending. Monday Obama challenged members of his Cabinet to wring a total of $100 million in cuts out of their agency budgets. "We can cut a whole lot more from the federal government than $100 million," Steele said. "They're making it like it's a trillion dollars and it's not."

Weighing in on one of his party's hottest stars, Steele rejected the suggestion that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a controversial figure.

Steele likewise rejected the assumption that Palin was the automatic front-runner for the 2012 GOP nomination.

No, he's a socialist---and so are the Washingtonian, establishment Republicans.

Well, Steele has made it abundantly clear that there is one RINO Party.

Just another play on words. Collectivist is a socialist is a communist is a Marxist. They all have the same goals, subjugation of the people and control of all.

Steele also said that the GOP had "bottomed and we hope that's the case."

The GOP is far from bottom unless it starts listening to the Gingrich, Palin and Romney types.

Sigh.... I gave up on the GOP when McCain recently told Republicans to stop using the Bible as a source for reason against homosexual Marriages. Palin needs to start her own Party for 2012!

This horse shi# is exactly why we lost the election. There is no perfect candidate. As soon as we get this idea in our lame heads, we might have a chance. All three of these persons have some good ideas and some not so good. It is up to us to work with the good ideas and quit complaining about the ones you personally don't like. Keep up the internal crap and we will be out again.

So why on Fox today did he mention there was 300,000 at the tea parties instead of over 1 million that was reported? Why would he not quote the highest number possible to show the credence in the movement!!

Let me know when the GOP stops its abandonment of their principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility.

And even more important: when they take a stand on support of core Christian principles.

carpetbagger Mitt Romney.

You think listening to Palin would take it to the bottom? That seems to be the case as the other two assuredly would help us find the bottom in short order.

Steele is wrong..the GOP IS the RINO party..Unfortunately I can’t even tell the difference between the GOP and the Democratic party anymore and it’s sad to see. I wonder what Ronald Reagan would think of all this if he were still alive. We need the Conservative party, the GOP will never support Sarah Palin because she symbolizes everything they are NOT. She speaks honestly, she is sincere, she doesn’t kiss the ass of the establishment, and she would NEVER shake the hands of a tyrant. The GOP lost it’s balls somewhere, I am all for a 3rd party because I don’t know what happened to the GOP but I can’t even look at them the same anymore

You aren't even close. They need to listen to the Reaganites, with serious concessions the conservative libertarians and the Buchananites. That is where the consensus IS, was, and always will be.

Gingrich, Palin, and Romney all represent divisive constituencies.

I’ll start listening and taking them seriously when they start sounding - and acting - like our founding Fathers.

Until then, it’s all noise and arm-waving.

Ho hum. Back to the firing line...

Steele is a bozo, please someone explain to me the difference between a socialist and a collectivist.

Steele has already shown that he is a socialist republican.
