I've had a few jobs where you act on instinct and let the chips fall where they may. Key is trusting who is around you not only for your life but also to have your back when the poop hits the fan. I'm sure the Navy was in control of this. They knew what needed to be done. They took out the terrorists - Job complete. Sort out the details later.

They have rules of engagements they must follow but he has the right to meddle and change them.
