Former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were given long jail terms for shooting at a fleeing drug smuggler, today told Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck that they were sustained by prayers of the American people and their spirits were lifted by their letters.
The two were interviewed on Beck's program in their first television interview allowed under the terms of their probation after President Bush commuted their sentences on his last day in office. They just were released from ankle bracelet restrictions and still face limits on with whom they can talk.
One of the restrictions is that the two cannot talk to each other after they each spent about two years of their decade-long sentences in jail. Beck interviewed them separately.
Ramos said what was important was "knowing that so many people were supporting us, receiving their letters, their prayers. I can't thank everybody enough."
A few minutes later, Compean echoed the statement.

I recall the disinformation posted by those posters. I wondered what was behind it.
Of course, just like Charlie Rangle, the bureaucrats investigated themselves and then buried anything incriminating. In fact, they sought to have the informant released back to Mexico where he would no doubt be executed by the exposed drug cartel, thus eliminating the evidence against our gov’t.
Yes, I do too and I'm glad to hear they are mostly gone. I seem to recall also, that some were going to support Bush/Sutton no matter what??
Why they were hanging out on a conservative forum in the first place was a mystery.
BTW, not much has been written about Sutton who even refused to give to a professional directory his marital status.
Wow, yes really.
I’m so relieved they are out and I’ll keep their yellow ribbons, prison addresses, etc. up on my bulletin board, to always remind me what happened to our brave agents.
Great... I’m sure you’re right, and that is ringing a bell. I think I’d had enough and more-or-less went away for a year or so.
And good point -— where HAS Sutton semi-vanished to!?! Let’s hope there aren’t more of him out there.
What a terrible ordeal they had to suffer for doing their job.
And it’s just worse and worse down here (Tucson)... and now the element coming over is more criminal than ever before. That was as per a Border Patrol report I saw in the paper the other day -— I should have saved a link.
Mexico (and others) sent over the initial army of peasants, and now they’re cleaning house of the true psychos, murderers, molestors, kidnappers, drug kingpins :( It’s just horrific.
