Ramos, Compean Say Prayers Held Them Up ( Pat Yourselves on the Back, FReepers! )

Former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were given long jail terms for shooting at a fleeing drug smuggler, today told Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck that they were sustained by prayers of the American people and their spirits were lifted by their letters.
The two were interviewed on Beck's program in their first television interview allowed under the terms of their probation after President Bush commuted their sentences on his last day in office. They just were released from ankle bracelet restrictions and still face limits on with whom they can talk.
One of the restrictions is that the two cannot talk to each other after they each spent about two years of their decade-long sentences in jail. Beck interviewed them separately.
Ramos said what was important was "knowing that so many people were supporting us, receiving their letters, their prayers. I can't thank everybody enough."
A few minutes later, Compean echoed the statement.

I want to know just what the Mexican government had to do with this. I want to know just exactly how George Bush was influenced, if he was, by foreign interests in this case.
These men are still being punished, and obviously silenced to some degree. Why?

There was a group here who reflexively took the open border side of every related thread, and on Ramos & Compean threads they seemed to delight in regurgitating the prosecution's case.
Most of them stormed off the site en masse to high drama during the Shiavo case, and the rest during the primaries when they felt their favorite RINO candidate wasn't receiving the respect they felt was due.

What was their reasoning? They claimed that the two tried to cover up the shooting initially, I think. So because of that, they were guilty and should be imprisoned. Nowadays with an all out drug cartel war on both sides of the border and civil war looming on the horizon (Mexican Civil War), that all looks a little silly. If the open border feds are pounding on my door, I am going to assume, everything out of their mouths is a lie.
