Congressman Threatens Man For Sending Him A Teabag
AR15.com ^ | 13 March 09 | ARFCOM

Posted on 03/13/2009 2:08:52 PM PDT by vivalaoink

A member at ar15.com sent his congressman a teabag in the mail to protest their spending, and now his congressman's office is threatening him.

The member says, "I told her no malice intended and asked if it was illegal to mail a teabag. I told her it was a in protest in response to the votes of the Congressman. I also told her I thought maybe they would enjoy a good cup of tea this afternoon. She was not amused but acted dumb as to why I sent it. She also said a RECORD of this would be made."

Here is a link to the recording their office left on his voicemail:

At the first Tea Party, some people dumped some tea into a harbor dressed as indians. It was a criminal act. King George was not there and probably wouldn't have understood what they were doing. They did not leave a picture of someone dumping tea nor a long-winded paper with an explanation.

Their act did not end the tea tax, nor overthrow King George.

Yet, we celebrate it, why? Because it put their heads on the chopping block. It was an act IN DEFIANCE, not in respect, of the authorities.

The act, and its boldness and theatricality, galvanized others to boycott. And boycotts and other acts of DEFIANCE, lead to increased threats which aroused the indignation of the people and resulted in a revolution when the passion of the people was ignored with disdain.

I was also a bit leery of sending a Tea Bag, after all, what can that do? How would it make them care? It won't.

But what it DID do, in this case, was to stir this one congressman up and reveal himself as our Lord and Master (so he thinks) and spark our outrage.

If sending Tea Bags will make them threaten us and cause us to become outraged, then it is quite effective.

When they ignore and ridicule us and twist what we do into something that it is not, and threaten us with jail, and their newspapers boycott us, THEN WE GET ANGRY.

And perhaps then we shall march to Washington and toss the entire putrid lot of them in the Potomac.

But don't delude yourselves that you can challenge power and avoid its anger, its threats, its jails, its abuse. If you think you can, stay home and watch MSNBC and complain from the safety of your easy chair.

Too much time in PhiKap Mom...

Tea bag, tea party, America.

Anthrax, federal testing, fear-mongering, Amerika.

Some of us are tired of Political Correctness, Correctness is good enough.

We should send tea bags or pictures of tea bags on April 1st followed by a day off without pay on April 15th. If the purpose of the tea bags is a symbolic tax protest, then follow it up with a real one.

This has probably already been said but I think this was a good idea. We should all send our representatives a tea bag or two and we should make it the most bitter tea we can find. Make sure it's just one bag and apologize for not sending the whole box; "it's all our family can afford with all the new spending you've been doing to help us."

That said, sending tea bags is an incredibly stupid thing to do. It's just a stunt. The "tea parties" are just a stunt. Asking politicians stupid questions about hypocrisy is just a stunt.

I think the Founding Fathers would disagree with your suggestion that passive agressive tactics would work rather than direct appeals through powerful symbols of liberty...

I’d make a copy of the recording, get it transcribed, and the next time Adler appears at a local townhall meeting, I’d stand up and publicly demand him to explain himself and the implied threat his staffer made on his behalf. But his arse on the hot seat and don’t let him wiggle out of it through his inevitable invocation of security concerns and terrorism (which you know is coming)...

Welcome to the USA (Union Socialists of America). And here we thought they might leave this sleeping dog lie! That is Pelosi’s teabag you’re talking about, right?

She also said a RECORD of this would be made

Probably a dimwitted Congressman's aide.

Think about what could be hidden in a tea bag

A congresscritter's brain? it would be dead afterall! Only the brain dead would possibly act in the manner of most of our congresscritters!

Did she say it “would go on your permanent record”?

I hope not-that might affect his ability to get paroled from the Gulag. He might be a comrade who is incapable of being “re-educated”!/s

>>The posting really didn’t say who the member of Congress was.

I know that if I sent my member of Congress a tea bag and they called me, hinting that they were gonna turn it over to the “authorities”, I’d have said GO RIGHT AHEAD!

It sounds like the congressional office is trying to practice a little intimidation...heavy emphasis on the word “little”.<<

The congressman should be identified.

But loose tea might be better given the implications of “tea bag” in this day and time.
