RUSH: Monica in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Wachovia Open used to be.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. I grew up in Sweden. I spent the first 22 years in Sweden. I've been living here for 30 years. Sweden is about to do the same thing, trying to tax the upper income, and as a result of that, they left. I lived there when Bjorn Borg and the pop group ABBA was there, they all left. So who will get stuck with paying the bill? It's the middle-class people of Sweden. So we get stuck paying the bill because nobody else could do it, and as a result of that we have always had a sales tax of 26% because there's no other way. If you can't tax the person any more, you have to go after everything else.
RUSH: Right. I'm well aware of it, the Swedish example, the Swedish experiment with ABBA pulling out of there.
CALLER: Oh, yeah.
RUSH: And then you had, like you said, Bjorn Borg pull out of there.
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: And a number of others. Well, even U2.
CALLER: Oh, yeah.
RUSH: They came out of Ireland and the UK.
CALLER: I mean, there's no way you can --
RUSH: (laughs) All these great philanthropists. Yeah, but, see, how long did it take for that to show itself or to reveal itself for the people who lived in Sweden, remaining to pay the taxes? Once they raise taxes on everybody and they started doing an Atlas Shrugged in Sweden, how long did it take before the people who were remaining to pay tax in Sweden realized they got screwed?
CALLER: Well, it didn't take long, and as a result of that, we had privatized medicine or people becoming doctors, have to pay their own money to get health care.
RUSH: Oh, why, how cruel is that.
CALLER: I know.
RUSH: How cruel! People had to pay their own money to get health care.
CALLER: I know.
RUSH: Oh!
CALLER: And on top of that we had to pay our taxes to pay for the nationalized health care. So we paid on top of that, then if we wanted to have our own private doctor, we had to pay privately for that. So that's why I'm not so afraid. I think the American people will never put up with this and once they found out that we all are going to get stuck with the bill, everybody in the United States.
RUSH: I think you're right about that, Monica. I really do. What worries me is how long it's going to take them to realize it. There's going to be a lot of suffering before they figure it out. There are going to be a lot of Bjorn Borgs and ABBAs leaving the United States and leaving the freight to be paid by the so-called beneficiaries of all of this. I want to forgo the suffering, I want to... This is not necessary; it is not a fix. It's something entirely different. If it's going to take Obama voters four, eight years to figure this out, that's going to be a lot of pain, a lot of economic decline, and a lot of ground to make up down the road.

If only. But there was plenty of warning from the patriotic media (like Rush, and further to the right). Americans will deserve what they voted for.
I thought we could impeach him on the birth cert issue... but that looks to be futile
Americans deserve what they voted for? This one didn’t vote for this crap.
I’m not wealthy - where can I go?
The sad part is, you don’t get who you deserve, you get who the majority deserves.
Flee to where?
Nowhere. YOu’re doomed.
And then there’s Ingvar Kamprad, the guy who founded Ikea. I believe he moved to Switzerland because of Swedish taxes.
Hard to find a place to ‘flee’ to. Australia maybe? New Zealand? The Socialist infection and false ‘Equal Economic Rights’ ethos appears to be a Worldwide phenomenon, just like the Economic situation.
Nor did I. I was active against it, and expect you were too. Nonetheless, our democracy (which is unconstitutional since we are supposedly guaranteed a republican form of government) worked: Rich Leftists (whom I despise) paid to agitate the perpetually envious mob (enter ACORN and illegals), and will now either flee or face the pillaging. The rest of us are damned, because we were never numerous or well-armed enough to counteract the propaganda from above.
That's exactly the way I feel. I am no longer angry over this. If this is what people want then I don't want to hear a peep from them when they find themselves as government property. My respect for many of my fellow Americans has just about evaporated.
Lots of folks are moving to Central and South America.
I read the various newspaper and blogs comments for thread posted here and don't see the libs who post comments coming around to the damage they claim to want for America. It will take a long time for them to figure out what they've done, if they ever do.
Costa Rica or the Bahamas.
how many, if we knew then what we know now (and many did), would have come out stronger for Sen. McCain....
Us neither. So, we’re looking at where we are and what we’ve got where we are. It’s in a state that did NOT go for the Obama Wunderkindfuerher in the election. Of course, we have our share of that bunch of Democrats here, but still a majority of sensible people. . . and I don’t think there is a high tolerance for the ACORN antics at the voting polls, intimidating people and so forth like that. There has been a high control of Democrats in our State Legislature, but the Republicans took over the Legislature (barely) for the first time since Reconstruction - fat lot of good it did them as the main RINO immediately teamed up with the Republicans to pull a fast one. Left us thinking that he was the sock puppet for the outgoing Democrat hierarchy who had control for almost twenty years (in modern times). I don’t know whether or not it’s turning out as bad as everyone first thought, but it was quite a stink in the Legislature for several weeks.
Anyway, all in all, since we have our home paid for and cost of living around here is not so bad, maybe staying here is best. My husband’s mother is going on 86 and not about to budge an inch from her hometown (the navel of the universe to its residents), so we’re kind of tied here as long as she is living. It’s not such a bad place, sixteen acres with a garden spot, room for a little bit of livestock (probably just chickens for the eggs), and moving someplace else would be a chore right now as we both have health problems, we have a very flexible job here with an online business that brings in a lot of our income, near a small town where we have farmers’ markets, stores, restaurants, Walmart and most anything we need available reasonably. There are just too many adjustments and unknowns in moving to another state, much less another country. I’m not afraid, just getting old myself. Sigh. . but we need to be realistic, although I’ve always loved variety and adventure of new locations.
Zogby had an online poll this week asking questions about whether folks were wanting to leave the country along with ones about the Kenyans performance and direction of the country.
