LA TUNA CANYON, Calif. -- A woman threatening to shoot herself at her home in La Tuna Canyon was fatally shot by SWAT officers after she allegedly pointed a weapon at them, according to police.
The standoff -- which began about 7:30 p.m. Thursday when the woman called police and threatened suicide -- ended in gunfire about noon Friday, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations office.
No officers were hurt, Herrera said.

Be careful what you wish for...
RIP.
Suicide by cliche.
Suicide by cop.
*Yawn*
Suicide by cop .....
That ought to deter similar attempts.
Kevlar vests/shields etc.....she pointed the gun at them......They/he/she wanted to kill some one and she was it..hate to waste all that training.
boy that never happens, feel sorry for the officer. He was only doing what he was trained to do.
Sure wish they’d fix the training. Perhaps Obama can fix that too.
misleading headline..
Why did the cops even bother showing up? She could have done that herself!
That was my first thought as well. She threatens suicide so the Cops oblige?
“It is against Roman law to commit suicide! The penalty is death!” -—(A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum.)
8,000 sq.ft. home??? Maybe she just realized Obama tagged her as rich?
Just kidding, no insensitivity towards an apparently emotionally disturbed woman is intended.
Pretty much the same thing happened here as a military man decided he didnt want to return to Iraq and threatened suicide. A state police sniper took him out.
I suggest the family not call police in for people who wish to commit suicide. It appears it only makes matters worse.
You said — “I suggest the family not call police in for people who wish to commit suicide. It appears it only makes matters worse.”
Yes, indeed..., the police training is for killing people who point guns at them... LOL..
You know that for a fact?
So what are the cops supposed to do? Take the bullet and hope it doesn't somehow get past the Kevlar vest and "shields," etc.? Would you be willing to do that?
Perhaps someone should develop a sympathetic robot to send in.
