OLYMPIA, Wash. Terminally ill patients with less than six months to live will soon be able to ask their doctors to prescribe them lethal medication in Washington state.
But even though the "Death with Dignity" law takes effect Thursday, people who might seek the life-ending prescriptions could find their doctors conflicted or not willing to write them.
Many doctors are hesitant to talk publicly about where they stand on the issue, said Dr. Tom Preston, a retired cardiologist and board member of Compassion & Choices, the group that campaigned for and supports the law.

How soon before it becomes one’s duty to “die with dignity”?
Still in the introductory stages, death with dignity will be available on an optional basis “for a limited time only.”
After that it will be mandatory and paid by your tax dollars.
Isn't the real question "at what age". Healthcare costs are way to high so we need to lower the age again ...
It is a matter of great concern to us Catholics here (real Catholics, I mean). The local Catholic hospital has announced they and their staff will not participate on any way, shape, or form. Obamurderer can try to force them but they won’t give in.
If doctors can’t refuse to perform an abortion, and hospitals can’t refuse to make them available; and if pharmacists can’t refuse to dispense abortion pills—
how much longer before doctors can’t refuse to hand out poisons?
The EXIT FEE. We spiral to our demise
My whole heart and soul rebels against the thought of such an action. Yet it’s a victimless crime: the suicide consents to his own death. It’s a foolish, miserable, tragic mistake on his part, but it is a victimless crime. Better to change peoples’ hearts and minds to respect and preserve their own lives than to throw people into prison for it.
And for a limited time only, physicians can opt out. After that it will be mandatory. No conscientious objectors will be permitted after the free trial period. Make your reservations early, or be prepared to prescribe lethal poisons to the useless eaters.
That's the problem with this, right there.
Not much of a leap to mandating murdering the rest of us, especially when our medical care will cost Medicare too much. Nice political party, you got there, democrats. Could you be any more evil?
The can choose to do the ethical thing.... CLOSE
..doctors who have no problems writing and administering the drugs.....
....they could build a wing onto the existing abortion room.
Their motto could be:
We'll take you out, coming or going....
Pretty much that’s his plan
A victimless crime? You know, I was reading about another victimless crime yesterday. There was a link on drudgereport. Seems this guy who worked in the morgue was having sex with dead people. Nobody knows just how many, because it went on a long time. Who was HE hurting? Nobody.
You want to overturn that law? I doubt it.
And what we’re talking about here, euthanasia, is not a victimless crime. It devalues human life and takes us closer to a hell on earth where there is no right to life for anyone.
Why is it "Conservative" to deny those that want to die that option?
That's the problem with slippery slopes...there's always some self-imposed arbiter who determines whether or not you are to be given a shove or a sled.
Reduce benefits to the elderly and allow the older, sicker ones to die. They are the ones most likely to be conservative in their viewpoints. Do you think it is just a coincidence that they are being targeted?
It becomes our duty when we defend the Constitution.
Good. End of life decisions belong with the family... not the courts, church or state.
