TIJUANA, Mexico -- Two U.S. sailors have been charged with the murder of a prostitute and the attempted murder of another in this northern border city, Mexican state prosecutors said.
Witnesses and a hotel camera place the two men at the same hotel where a 19-year-old prostitute was smothered to death on Jan. 17, the prosecutors said Tuesday.
On Feb. 4, police found the men in a bloodstained hotel room with a prostitute and a hotel employee, both of whom had suffered stab wounds, prosecutors said.
The sailors were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. They later found evidence linking them to the January killing, Authorities said.
A U.S. Navy statement on Wednesday said that Jarrett Monzingo and Joshua Dockery, active-duty petty officers assigned to the San Diego area, face murder and attempted-murder charges in the death of a Mexican citizen and are being held at La Mesa Prison in Tijuana.
The statement did not elaborate on the alleged crime but said that the Navy has hired Mexican lawyers to represent the officers.

If they're guilty I have no sympathy and hope they spend a long time rotting in a Mexican jail. I don't want to serve with psychos.
Motives?
If it happened in Mexico this could have been some sort of purposeful set-up. Let’s wait and see what this is all about.
Dunno? Maybe they just enjoyed sneaking over to TJ where they believe life is cheap and act out their serial killer fantasies.
Occasionally we get guys like these who slip past the filters.
Stuning.
It doesn’t look good for them.
Whether guilty or innocent these guys will come out wearing baggys on their butts because they can't control their sphincter muscles anymore.
Saw it happen in the Philippines, it will happen to them.
Yeah, the La Mesa Prison is notorious. These guys are going to be hating life. They're going to be spending time with the worst of the worst.
Why are they being tried in Mexico? I thought they would be tried by the Navy.
Stabbing and choking hookers...they’re doing it wrong.
Because the crimes took place in Mexico, Mexico isn't obligated to turn them over to navy authorities and the navy isn't demanding their release. We're told repeatedly as sailors in San Diego that if we get in trouble in Mexico, there's little the navy will do for us. In fact, the navy very recently added more restrictions on traveling to Tijuana due to the lawlessness in the region.
I can say with certainly that I would never go to Tijuana again. Not ever.
Nothing good happens in Tijuana.
certainty, that is.
I’ll withhold judgment as to whether they’re guilty. It’s also possible, for instance, that somebody broke into the room to rob them, and a fight ensued.
But I will say this. Anyone who goes into a whorehouse in Tijuana should have his head examined. I can think of few stupider things to do.
It doesn't help that these two guys disobeyed orders by failing to get the proper "request chits" (permission slips) required by the navy to travel to Tijuana.
“Scum.”
You don’t know that. Although I don’t know you personally if the MEXICAN authorities said you had killed someone in their country I would give you the benefit of the doubt.
i worked with one of these guys at a previous duty station and saw him recently. since transferring hes changed a lot and has had his mind messed with a lot. it was unknown to me but apparantly hed been having thoughts of doing something like this for a while.
Which one are you talking about that his mind was messed with? And how do you know that he had been thinking about doing something like this for awhile?
Drew68, they are proclaiming their innoncence, actually amazing that they look so “clean” after a bloody battle with three individuals. I sure would like to hear “OUR BOYS” story instead of the story that is being proclaimed by the “victims” after all isn’t that what you defend? that you are innocent until “proven” guilty? unbelievable is the training these two went through, to defend us and we aren’t defending them.
