Sen. Harry Reid is GOP target in 2010 election ["one of Capitol Hill's wiliest politicians"]

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is among Republicans' biggest targets in 2010, but a GOP takedown is hardly a guarantee.

As Reid, 69, prepares to seek a fifth term, analysts say the Senate's leading Democratic voice has turned off some voters in libertarian-leaning Nevada and undercut his slogan from campaigns past: "Harry Reid, Independent like Nevada."

Last week, the National Republican Senatorial Committee began airing its first critical ad against Reid, lambasting him as a "super-spending partisan." Committee spokesman Brian Walsh promised that Reid would have "a very competitive race on his hands."

But for all the Republicans' tough talk, Reid, one of Capitol Hill's wiliest politicians, has ensured that he'll be difficult, if not impossible, to beat.

Only problem, Nevada has a slim bench for GOP politicians.

Sharon Angle is a state senator backed by the Club for Growth, and Dean Heller is a U.S. Congressman. Those are the GOPs two best options right now IMO. The GOP Lt Gov is under investigation for something.

Heller is a member of the RMSP, but he is generally a reliable conservative vote.

I was visiting Nevada during Reid’s last campaign. Big signs everywhere in Reno with his mug and the word “Independent.” Right. A few months later he was majority leader of the Senate DemocRATs. Hope Nevadans will dump this shmoe like a bad land deal (heh).

Sharron Angle isn’t a State Senator, but an ex-Assemblywoman. She lost the primary against Bill Raggio in ‘08. I think she was permanently crippled after her behavior during the ‘06 GOP House primary in losing to Heller. Screamed sour grapes. Wish we could recruit ex-State Sen. Bob Beers of Clark County for statewide office (Governor would be better, but Senator will do).

Still, Reid's approval numbers have hovered around 50 percent

Pretty amazing for a majority leader. I hope the GOP can come up with somebody.

The smell of Capitol Hill would be greatly improved if old mortician Harry was sent packing. Of course, if they remain in control in the Senate, they will replace him with someone equally loathsome, but it would still be nice to see.

Perhaps we need to check the voting credentials of the members of the SEIU as they prepare to cast ballots. If Nevada’s anything like Cali, the union’s full of illegals.

Mark Levin and others have said they will campaign for the GOP candidate when Harry’s term comes up.

It’s time to prepare a “Harry’s Greatest Hits” montage of stupid things this moron has uttered. You know, that the war is lost, and that paying taxes is voluntary (although we may have trouble with the last one, since apparently to Democrats, paying taxes really IS voluntary).

from what I’ve been told,
Reid is a Vegas mob man.
Bought and paid for.
Sounds reasonable to me.
