The cult of personality appears to have ebbed a bit since Barack Obama had to begin governing two weeks ago. The Washington DC radio station calling itself Obama 1260 and featuring liberal talk stalwarts Bill Press, Ed Schultz, and Stephanie Miller has given up the ghost already, a victim of undetectable ratings. Howard Kurtz notes that not all political radio has that problem:
President Obama may be riding high in Washington, but OBAMA 1260 is not.
The area’s only progressive talk station is changing formats, dropping such syndicated liberal hosts as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Bill Press in favor of financial news, starting next week.
The move by Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who purchased the station, WWRC, and others in Washington last summer, leaves the city without a liberal radio outlet. Program Director Greg Tantum says he thought the station could work because of enthusiasm over Obama, but that ratings collapsed to a level that could not be measured after the election.
But ratings nearly doubled, he says, at Snyder’s conservative station, WTNT, which features Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett.

Dumb business move. They should’ve known that the voters (who keep the TV locked on Jerry Springer and Maury) would return home to their bongs and crack pipes. Radio requires actually ‘listening’.
What sort of verbal sexual acts could they perform on Obama that the drive-bys haven’t already?

Even if you find 57 different ways of saying, “I love Obama.”
It was also the station itself. I live in Fairfax, near fairfax City...Station doesn’t come! You can’t get the station is most of northern VA.
Yes, I would try to listen...just to keep up with what the enemy is doing!!!

The real problem is that most Obama supporters don’t know how to dail a phone.
What part of "cult of personality" does Ed Morrissey not understand? The personality in question is Obama, not Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller, or Bill Press. This election was not an endorsement of liberalism.
The morons never do any market research into their demographics. Because they can get a few dozen white libs together who think alike, they then assume that untold millions are ready to tune into crackpot radio.
Liberals are dismayed to discover that AM signals are extremely weak in their Moms’ basements.
Exactly, maybe they should of put “We hate Bush” in every other word..that seemed to motivate the left..
How many hours can you listen to “I hate BushRoveCheneyHaliburton and I want to have Obama’s baby” over and over before your mind goes to mush? (Of course, how many of these folks had minds of mush to begin with?)
This doesn’t bode well for Obama’s plans for his follower’s have ‘cult parties’ in their homes across the country to promote his porkulus bill either....LOL!!
The ones who do are calling CSPAN and reading the Dem talking points.
Does anybody watch CSPAN?...I haven't in years because of the above.!
Thats why they thrive on the top of the hour news but die on talk radio.
