It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. George S. Patton

I thank God that these brave Troops lived.

Prayers for their families are offered.

Why are our troops still in Iraq?

Iraq is a failure.

There's no al Qaeda in Iraq.

Our real interests are in Afghanistan.

The One said so.

They are with God. I pray for their families. I saw a film clip the other day, made by a Frenchman that shows things in a very positive light and shows what a good job our troops have done over there. They have made a difference.

So sad. Can someone tell me why there are so many helicopter crashes? Seems like our military has way too many of these, but there has also been a rash of hospital helicopter crashes as well here in the States.

There were likely survivors since a UH 60 has a crew of 3. God bless the families of our heroes, living and dead.

“The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by its very nature wants to fly and, if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces and controls working in opposition to each other and, if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance, the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously. There is no such thing as a gliding helicopter.”

“This is why being a helicopter pilot is so different from being an airplane pilot, and why in generality, airplane pilots are open, clear-eyed, buoyant extroverts, and helicopter pilots are brooding introspective anticipators of trouble. They know if something bad has not happened it is about to!”

These are the headlines that we dread so much... we pray for the families of these soldiers, and we are so thankful that there are men and women who still have the courage to be soldiers in these times. Because our son is in Army aviation support, we feel a bond with all the aviators and the people they move. Just servicing the birds carries enough responsibility, but piloting them? Unbelievable.

I had not seen that quote from Harry Reasoner (who was born across the railroad tracks from my home town). Thank you for that.

I have heard that a helicopter is no more than a loose collection of used parts flying in close formation.
At least that’s what the crews said about the choppers I rode in.

The cause of the incident is unknown but does not appear to be the result of "enemy action," a separate US military statement said later.

I heard this on the local news at 5:30 but nothing on the 24 hr morning shows at 6AM.

Since there were two at the same time and same area I feared some insurgents got hold of some shoulder fired missiles. This contradicts my theory.

One of my fears is that one day some terrorist here is going to get hold of one of these Russian shoulder fired missiles and bright down a commercial airliner on take off from one of our many airports. The airline industry is not going to be able to survive if that happens. Hope I am wrong about this scenario.

The Obama said that we were leaving Iraq and that there was no reason to be there in the first place. That means that the enemy is just sitting back waiting now for Obama to announce the time of withdrawal.

It also means our troops there are simply spinning their wheels.

Since taking office, Obama’s “waiting to leave Iraq number” is at least up to 4 with these deaths of guys just waiting to leave.

I don’t know his number of Afghanistan “We’ll Get bin Laden or we won’t leave” deaths.

With so many in the federal legislative and executive branch needing helicoper rides, Mother Nature decides to kill our military!!!

May they rest in peace....and their families find some comfort in the fact that they died in the highest service to their country....and know that most of us appreciate their sacrafice greatly.

There are plenty of antique airplane shows, but have you ever seen an antique helicopter show?

Helicopters to not fly; they beat the air into submission.

Helicopters are like having a pet snake, cute, useful sometimes, ego-building, but ready to bite you at any time. It's not that helicopters want to bite you, but like snakes, that's just what they do.

There are no such things as helicopters. There are only 20,000 spare parts flying in close formation.

In Tay Ninh, RVN, I once watched a young warrant officer helicopter pilot take 23 swats at a fly with a fly swatter, miss every time, then announce that he was ready to fly me to Nui Ba Den! Think about it.
