Hitler thinks he is signing up for Gil Hodges fantasy baseball camp. His travel agent misunderstands and sends him to Haj instead. He is very angry.

At least 349 people were crushed to death and hundreds more were injured yesterday during the final day of the Haj pilgrimage at Mecca in the worst tragedy to hit the annual Muslim rite in Saudi Arabia for 16 years.
The pilgrims were crushed at the eastern end of the Jamarat Bridge as they tried to perform the ritual stoning of Satan.
“It was like the road of death there,” one said. After the crowds had dispersed, witnesses spoke of scores of bodies lying covered with white shrouds. Most of the dead were said to be Muslim pilgrims of south and south-east Asian origin.

You are exactly right. Downfall was an excellent movie. The Hitler in this movie was spot on. Totally believable from everything I’ve ever read about him. Moody, arrogant, bombastic, constantly delivering long winded monologues and belittling his generals.
The Hitler in Valkyrie was soft-spoken, quiet, almost gentle. He really didn’t even look like Hitler. Perhaps Tom Cruise didn’t want to be upstaged.
If you want to see an excellent war movie and don’t mind subtitles, rent or buy Downfall.
I haven’t laughed this hard in years!

A little off-topic but it made me recall one of my favorite John Lovitz on SNL lines: “fight Hagler?! Hagler will kill him- I thought you were talking about Marvin Hamlisch!”
