Inaugural revelers are lucky they didn't get fined for littering. As crowds cleared the city Tuesday, their trash covered the National Mall and Washington Monument grounds after President Barack Obama's inauguration.
They left behind plastic bottles, newspapers, food wrappers, gloves and even American flags they had been waving. Trash bins overflowed with items people tossed.

Why weren't those homeless teenagers painting the walls of their shelter?
Why couldn't THEY also do something? Why did the elected President have to do it? Weren't there more pressing things for his time?

Now maybe it’s just me, or because I work at a desk, but if I travelled to the national convention or even the inauguration and was there among the masses waving a flag (especially one so small), I’d put it up at my work station as a reminder of where I’d been and the hope of that day, etc.
For all the “love” they claim to have and all the Obamorabillia that was sold, I don’t understand why they’d trash so many US flags.
I guess they missed the part of the speech that called for the folks to take personal responsibility? Being responsible means throwing your own trash away, not desecrating the American flag, and even picking up after others. Of course to liberals, those things don’t apply.

That is what surprises me. I would have thought that those would have been taken home as souvenirs, either as keepsakes of history, or to gift to others who wanted to be there but could not.
I guess the speech was less than 'inspiring' to those who were looking for more? I guess the cleanup crew did not find any pie wrappers in the mess.
