Very important development in TN. Despite Democrat minority (50R-49D) installing puppet RINO Speaker in the House, the overall legislative GOP majority in joint session (we have a 19-14 majority in the Senate) were able to elect all 3 Republicans to statewide office today. This will be the first time a Republican holds any of these offices since Reconstruction, and the first time we hold a majority of offices since that time, around late 1860s/early 1870s. A "political revolution" in Tennessee.

Can anyone in TN tell me more about the state of the state? Things like taxes, attitudes toward conservatives, living conditions, that sort of thing?

These are pertinent questions toward future events, mind you, and thanks in advance for any serious replies.

the article said that voting was along party lines, except for a Dem that voted with the Republicans for one of the offices. Does that mean that Kent Williams voted with the Republicans today, or did he officially switch to the Democrats?

Thanks for the positive news, after the speaker debacle we needed some. Maybe Williams came to his senses and voted right for a change after getting a bunch of scathing e-mails (including 2 from me) from angry Tennesseans.

Good news. THe TN GOP finally has some statewide office holders. Ironically, TN was the one of the first Dixie states to be voting for GOP candidates. It took so long to make progress on the legislative level.

Anyway YES!!! That’s change I can believe in. LOOOOOOOOONG time coming.

Now you just need to elected anther state rep or 2 or 5 in 2010 along with a Non-Wamp, Non-Halsam, GOP Governor, redistrict the rats to under 40% of seats (or less I think you said they could really stick it too them) and you’re set.

What exactly are these positions? Who elected these positions, and when? I’m sorry if I sound ignorant (I am).
