Judges always seem to love letting real criminals get off with just a slap on the wrist.

I wonder how they'll treat this guy?

He will be punished for the crime of being a ‘gun enthusiast’.

a trunk full of guns and nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition

At an airport? Doesn't he own a radio or TV?

"In the post-Sept. 11 environment, it is well-known by weapon owners that airports and weapons simply do not mix," said Los Angeles Airport Police Chief George Centeno.

Centeno is a pinhead. There is nothing illegal about having a unloaded gun in an airport parking lot

I’m sorry, but I know of NOONE that thinks hauling a thousand rounds of ammo and several un-declared weapons to an airport is a good idea in this day and age. Perhaps he wanted to make a point......

How was he not following the law? The stuff was in the trunk. 1,000 rounds of 22LR will easily fit in your jacket pockets. One can transport guns (in the hold) on airplanes if you follow the rules.

Sounds like poor reporting at a minimum.

Dominguez said he had 16 pistols, including an 1858 black-powder Army revolver. He also had five rifles - one of them an assault rifle - and nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Wasn't it 37 pistols and 15 rifles yesterday?

Dominguez said he didn't think he was breaking any laws since all the weapons and ammo were in separate, locked boxes

This guy is completely innocent. he was following the letter of Ca law.

Dominguez said he got state permission to own and use the assault rifle last month but the approval letter didn't mention it was illegal in California to make a pit stop while transporting the weapon from his home to the gun range. That code requires that "registered assault weapons may be transported only between specified locations," according to the Web site of the California Attorney General's Office.

What a horseshit law!

Has he been living under a ROCK for the past 7 years?? Sorry, but carrying a trunk full of guns and a thousand rounds of ammo to an airport is just a stupid thing to do.

So, was it a real assault rifle, or one that looks like an assault rifle to the ignorant MSM?

I hardly ever go to the range without at least 1000 rounds of ammunition. That’s 50 rounds into 20 targets; A good afternoon of shooting.

Unless his guns are fully automatic, they are probably legal.

he was handcuffed, taken to a jail and held for six hours before he was booked. He was released at around 11 p.m. after his family posted $50,000 bail. But his guns and his truck were confiscated.

It took the assholes 6 hours to find some little technicality to charge him with. Now he's looking at a felony and the theft of his property.

Unless he’s got a few dozen hands, I suspect that he was not planning to make a last stand with a trunk full of guns.

The law in question is pretty clearly unconstitional.

if you go anywhere near an airport with an arsenal in your car you’re asking for. it’s beyond stupid. more stupid, even, than being in an airplane and saying, very loudly, “Gee, what would happen if I HIJACKED this plane?”

Heller covered part of the Second Amendment with the whole "keep" portion being a Right.

Maybe this case will help clear the crap up on the "bear" portion.

From the linked article: "Dominguez said he got state permission to own and use the assault rifle last month ..."

I'm not aware of any mechanism whereby a person in Kalifornia is able to register an "assault rifle" in December of 2008.

Those who possessed such weapons when the original laws went into effect were grandfathered in. Even those people cannot transfer such rifles unless to a person out of state.

There is something very strange about this.

“1000 rounds of ammunition”... journalism majors love the big numbers, but I can hold 1000 rounds in my hands rather easily. 4 small-brick-sized boxes of .22 hold 1000 rounds.
