San Francisco - In a statement given today to the SF Chronicle, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Congress deserves a bailout because of inordinate personal expenses involved with running the country.
"Anyone who has spent any time in the Washington, D.C. area knows how expensive it is to live there. Most of us have to maintain two homes, one in our home district and one there. Why sometimes, as outrageous as it sounds, we have to be away from our families up to 8 hours a day. Compensation is required for this inconvenience. We feel honored to request a bailout to help with those expenses. We know the American people will support us in this 100%. They know we're working hard for them. Attempting to legislate every need, desire and want for every American from cradle to grave is extraordinarily difficult work.
"It's not like we're asking for billions, it's only $65million divided 535 ways. In many ways, it's pocket change compared to the overall cost of government."
When asked about the dire financial straits most normal Americans are in right now, the response was, "We know times are tough for everyone, but we have confidence in the American people. We know they will do the right things: sacrifice more, save less, drive older cars and so on so they can have effective government. The end result is, we will do everything necessary to help them help us."
Developing..
This is satire, right?
We are the NY Yankees of Legislatures.
This has got to be a joke right. This nut job can’t be serious right. Deserves a bailout..for what, causing the problem to begin with
Knowing 9%Nan, this may be for real.
Ordinarily I would agree with that statement, but not during these times. Suck it up, Nancy.
it is..but, is it out of the realm of possibility?? I think not..
I’d give them an extra 4K NOT TO DO ANYTHING...
Congress has always taken care of itself.... they get huge expense accounts on top of their salaries. Of course they also have all their lobbiest bribe money, but that of course is all "off the record".
OMG, this has to be satire.
Hmmm, a do-as-little-as-possible incentive package. Hmm, deduct cash for each bill they try to pass...
Go to the link and all your questions will be answered. :D
...or they get more cash for each layer of bureucratic BS they eliminate...
Where's the stories about Sarah Palin turning down a 25k raise?
Click on the link to the web site...its a fun read.
Fake but accurate...:-)
No this is real it’s Congress that is satire.
Satire or not, it's no longer 100%...count me out, you overpaid bitch.
I look forward to the day when the pelositization of America is finished and Nancy goes home to California where she can speak the language of liberalism without destroying the whole nation.
