I have a confession to make. I voted for John McCain, and yet I'm incredibly relieved that Barack Obama won the presidential election.
Let me explain.
The past eight years have been defined largely by Democratic and leftist opposition to George W. Bush and to all things deemed Republican. As someone who rallied to Bush's side after 9/11 and supported him in the 2004 election, only to find myself deeply disappointed both in his second term and in the arrogance and complacency of the GOP, I've grown quite weary of the partisan culture wars. So it's with great relief that I contemplate a forthcoming Obama term in which Democrats control the White House, Congress, and possibly the Senate, and therefore have no one to blame but themselves.
Similarly, the mainstream media, which had a virtual love affair with Obama throughout his campaign, won't have those nasty Republicans to kick around anymore and will instead have to report not only the Democrats' successes, but also their failings. War coverage may also take a turn for the more evenhanded with a Democratic president at the helm. Instead ofemphasizing failure, ignoring successes and encouraging defeat, perhaps the media will give the U.S. military its due for a change.
After eight years of doom, gloom and anger in the largely liberal Bay Area, it's been a breath of fresh air to behold the hopefulness with which locals are meeting the future. Whether it's the African-American community in my newfound East Bay neighborhood or the San Francisco lefties in my former digs, it appears that optimism has again taken root. Some of us already felt that way about America, but for others, this newfound pride in their country...

Yep.
Wait until Odoofus hits the brick wall of reality...or it hits him.
I thought she was fairly smart about security matters. But this whole article is extremely naive, and rather badly written to boot.
As much as I hate to admit this, I live here amoungst these idiots. Lord help me... Sometimes, this can be so much fun.

Unfortunately, it'll be We The People who get hit first, and by the time TheOne Inc figures it out it'll be too late .......
She is or was a FReeper. Funny, I haven’t seen her post this Obama-optimism on FR. Wonder why, lol?
Cinnomon Stillwell - Moonbat!!!
I agree. I don't see anything going the way she says. I see B.Hussein Obama being treated like a schoolboy by the taskmasters. He won't know which way to turn with too many promises made and too many people to please. Pass the popcorn.
No, but this isn’t her best.

I plan to do my part to add to the pressure, too. I may write one week supporting one position. The next week, I will write supporting the opposite side of the issue. Pressure, pressure, maybe we can buy “the One” a trip to the mental ward!
LOL!
Has there ever been a more clear cut case of national suicide?

Historically, there have been worse ones. My main concern is this dumbass navigating a very dangerous world and having no seamanship skills. There is a big difference between being a Chicago hustler and president. Even his VP mocked him on this and said that this is not a position that lends itself to on-the-job training. My worry is how many of our fellow citizens will die in learning this lesson.

More than forty years ago I boarded a liberty launch and Left the USS Saratoga to go “to the beach” in Naples, Italy. While I was drinking and carousing a huge storm came up and there were monstrous waves in the harbor. When I went to board the launch to return we were all told to find a hotel room and we could not go back to the ship until the storm passed. Two hours later the Shore Patrol awoke me in my room and said that plans had changed and we were going back to the ship regardless. When I got to the dock and boarded the launch, a thirty footer that was bobbing up and down like a cork, I was amazed to see that our trusty enlisted Boatswain’s mate was not the coxswain. Instead there was an officer at the helm, I am not sure about his rank now but it was obvious that he was a staff officer by his collar insignia. I asked a buddy what was going on and he said, look closely, he is a dentist! At this point we were all paralyzed with fear at the thought of what was going to happen. Amazingly, the man knew how to handle a vessel, he got us back to the ship and everyone boarded safely even though I missed the platform and had to hang there gripping the handrails waiting for the boat to come back up on the next crest. I was never so relieved as when I felt the gunwale on the launch lifting my feet, I had had visions of being crushed into sausage. There were two very big sailors strapped to the platform and they were holding my arms but they couldn’t quite lift my weight back up until the boat lifted my feet and then they snatched my six foot four inch frame safely aboard.
Somehow I don’t think we are going to be that lucky with this little voyage. That dentist proved that his confidence was justified. I don’t think our new coxswain even knows which way to head to find safety and I am not even sure he doesn’t want us to sink, he can always take refuge in some country that hates us.
