World waits to see Barack's true colours
The Australian ^ | November 06, 2008 | Greg Sheridan

SO now we know for sure. The Noam Chomsky-John Pilger-Phillip Adams view of America is wrong. In George W. Bush's America, a land allegedly rife with militarism and racism, the white military hero lost and the black memoirist won a slashing election victory.

In a nation supposedly enthralled by fundamentalist religion, the presidential ticket with two mainstream, Protestant, capital-C Christians lost to the ticket with a vice-president of Catholic background who favours abortion on demand, and a presidential candidate who drifted into religion when he drifted into politics and who has one of the most pro-abortion records of any legislator.

In a sense all of this is beside the point. These were not the issues on which this election was fought.

Nor are they the dynamics of American society.

It is indeed a wonderful thing for the US to have its first black president. No African-American child need ever fear there is any limit to what they can achieve. Whatever you think of Obama's policies and capacity to govern well -- and I have my doubts -- his election is a powerful symbol of America's inclusiveness and opportunity. Which other big, rich, predominantly white society has elected a member of a racial minority to be its head of government? Not Australia.

So as we salute Obama, let's salute America as well.

The left liberal caricature of America was always nonsense. The militarism of American society is vastly overstated, just as its profound willingness to make sacrifice for other people's freedom is under-appreciated. This is the fifth presidential election in a row in which the candidate with the stronger military record lost to the candidate who didn't serve, or served only in the National Guard.

The last war hero to be elected president was George H. W. Bush in 1988. The...

Barack Obama attended an Islamic school growing up in Indonesia and his father was a Muslim.

Obama's experience within Islam as a boy should give him a unique perspective into Islam unlike any other U.S. President.

How do you feel the election of Barack Obama will impact Islam in America?

Take the latest Truth For Muslims poll.

I already know his true colors. He has 2.
White=Surrender
Red= This is just too easy. If you don’t know this, your too dumb to understand.

Afrocentric Black and Commie red, just like his wife's gawdy outfit.

Ah, so here come the atta boys. Aren’t we lovely because we elected a black man? We’re so enlightened. It’s funny that all these people rant and rave that it’s not the color of a person’s skin that matters, yet you let a black man run for office and win and that’s all you hear about, the color of his skin. What about the man? If we’re going to have a black president for the sake of having a black president, why couldn’t we have elected Alan Keys?

Did anyone just see the Brandon Marshall (Denver Bronco NFL Player) interview on the NFL network just now?

He was talking about the election, and the black power salute of the ‘68 Olympians. Then he said no more black gloves, it’s not about black and white anymore, that it’s about the Red White and Blue. I have never seen such Patriotic sentiment from a black guy (or many others I have witnessed past 2 days).

That’s it...no more excuses. Blacks should follow what their leader says...Stop having kids out of wedlock, and stop showing your underwear to the whole world.

I can’t wait until the honeymoon is over. He will have an impossible task of trying to come though on his promises while raising taxes on the rich (whoever that is) and at the same time improving the economy. LOL

If he manages to do all this then even I will have to be surprised.

“Hello, and welcome to MSNBC. My name’s Keith Olberman and tonight’s top story, America has finally realized that racism is wrong and that a person’s skin color doesn’t matter. Now, stay tuned because after the commercial break, we’ll be talking for the next 3 hours about how Obama is black...”

Somebody needs to tell this to the President-elect.

“He will have an impossible task of trying to come though on his promises while raising taxes on the rich (whoever that is) and at the same time improving the economy.”

The U.S. has about 300 million people at present. Let’s assume 140 million have potentially taxable incomes. About 50% of those folks don’t pay any taxes but they represent about 70 million of the potentially taxable wage earners. 5% of the wage earners are going to support all of The Messiah’s plans, 5% is a total of about 7 million wage-earners. Apparently, each of those people are going to pay about 100,000% of their taxes each year and smile while they do so.

Somehow, I don’t see this working.

Yeah, and don’t think for a minute that this has gone unnoticed by Al Queda, Red China or Communist Russia.

That is the one good thing to come out of this debacle: no more excuses.

Get off your race-baiter-imposed plantations, people! Finally, finally, finally accept that it is a LIE that the American Dream is for some Americans, not all Americans.

No more excuses.

That is one thing that is really aggravating: the notion that NOW-—NOW!-—we’re not a racist nation.

Never mind that millions of white people made Oprah rich.

Any American can get on the road to success if they are willing and able.
