Once Again Senator Obama Needs to Come Clean with the Latino Community Regarding Illegal Immigration

Latinos for Reform (LFR) called on Senator Barack Obama to come clean with the American people, and particularly with the Latino community regarding the issue of his aunt, who has been in the U.S. illegally for four years now.

"We have no doubts that Senator Obama is once again hiding the truth from the American people when it comes to the story of his aunt," said LFR Chairman Robert Deposada. "For crying out loud, everyone would agree that when people in other countries have relatives in government, it is a common practice to contact them for assistance when they have a problem. She knew she had a powerful Senator as her nephew, considering that she attended his swearing-in ceremony in the Senate..... She was ordered to leave the country by an immigration judge. So you can rest assure that she did contact him."

"Senator Obama must come clean about his knowledge of her illegal status," Deposada added. "This situation makes us question why he remained so quiet during the immigration debate in the Senate and why he supported all the poison pills to kill the bipartisan legislation introduced last year in the U.S. Senate. He should have put his personal interest aside and help address the issue of comprehensive immigration reform."

For a moment, I thought he was the one who leaked the story in order to get the Latino vote. He could have come out holding hands with her and claim he understood the sacrifices immigrants (legal and illegal alike) make to come to this wonderful country and how he's here to bring change and hope to these poor struggling families and how he's going to spread the wealth to them, blah, blah, blah... pass the tissue, please.

But then, I remembered how self centered he is. Of course she's living in tax dollar funded housing. Of course he's tried to forget about her. She's a poor nobody without any wealthy VIP connections. He almost got by with this one with only 4 days to spare. He threw whitey granny under the bus, now he's thrown illegal auntie. Who knows how many other relatives are living here and who are of no benefit to him.
