Although the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama's birth certificate has become a focus of intense speculation – and even several lawsuits – it has been learned that Hawaii's Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate's birth certificate under seal and instructed the state's Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances.

From personal experience....the stepfather adopted little Barack and his name changed. He’s no longer BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA Jr. any longer and now known as BARRY (FILL IN THE BLANK) SOETORO (and any suits against him would be against SOETORO) thanks to his adoptive father...he’s also a citizen of Indonesia and lost his “natural-born” citizenship and becomes a “NATURALIZED” citizen (if he re-applied for citizenship) and not eligeble to run as a US sentator or President, even if born in Hawaii, Kenya or anywhere inbetween. He was a dual citizen of Kenya and Indonesia and nothing more, but the DNC will perpetuate the fraud as they’ve done in the past.
Too bad everyone failed to mention it to him, now he’s an illegal alien and subject to DEPPORTATION!
This scum thinks he is God’s gift to the world and white America owes the uS Presidency to him because of his skin color. Once America does this he can “start” the change of giving Americn back it’s “soul”

If the Constitution is not followed, the Government has crossed the line that the Founders explained as their justification for the Revolution. There is no basis to accept the election; no basis but fear of repression to accept the decrees of the Washington establishment.
But those who would stop the chanting automatons from electing the demagogue need to spend at least part of their posting time, hitting other forums, where with persuasive techniques--asking the right questions--they may be able to actually undermine some of the support.
Do not misunderstand, Free Republic serves as a wonderful vehicle for improving our arguments; but those arguments need to be employed more generally across the internet.

The story SAYS the governor put Obama’s birth certificate in a safe but we still have not seen it, so I still believe it does not exist. The governor can EASILY provide an electronic copy to provide proof of its existence.
There will always be this cloud over Obama even if it is not the case. So why perpetuate it by sealing such a basic document? Heck, I couldn’t get into 1st grade without proving my age via showing my birth certificate.
Very strange, and strange isn’t somthing one wants in a candidate for POTUS.

A child born outside of the United States to one American citizen parent and one non-American parent, may be entitled to citizenship providing the American citizen parent had, prior to the birth of the child, been physically present in the United States for a period of ten years, at least five years of which were after s/he reached the age of fourteen.

Why? What could possibly be on that certificate that is so bad as to warrant hiding it? Even if his name is Saddam Hussein Obama it won’t have any more of an effect than his current names does. Even if his father is not who he says it is. Even if it says he’s adopted. ANYTHING is better than not having one, which seems to be the issue. I could be wrong, but I just don’t see the contents of any certificate as being detrimental.
Not so bad as to hide it, so damning as to protect it from crazy Obama supporters in clerks’ offices who may have access to it. It also protects privacy laws if it is illegal to release it except to a family member or by court order (ie, someone in aforementioned clerk’s office ‘leaking’ it.)
I know what you are saying but I thought Obama has said his mother was American and his father was Kenyan. Am I wrong on that? My birth certificate has my mother’s age on it. Is his mother’s age the issue in that she was 18 at the time and couldn’t have been in country 5 years even if he was born in the US?
Fokk the law!!! When the law is used to hide the truth about something of this importance, I will be on the side of truth with every fiber of my being. The law should never be used to protect an illegitimate candidate and should never be allowed to be used to facilitate a constitutional crisis.

given the citizenship laws dating from 1952 to 1986, it appears that regardless of Obama’s father that he is indeed a US citizen since his momma had obviously lived in the US for 10 years prior to his birth or the “5 years after aged 14”, her’s being the former since he was born when she was 19.
I think folks here think maybe he was born elsewhere even though Hawaii admits there is his birth certificate there
if there is anything here I think it might be that it’s embarrassing about his dad but not a citizenship issue

While everyone will have his or her own approach, I have, through the years, developed a host of arguments for which the Left has no effective answer. When I used to actively debate a lot, before varied groups, I invariably ended the meeting with a larger percentage of the audience on my side than at the start. At least consider my approach.
