Punches Thrown Over Prop 8 close

The Lopez family woke up Saturday to find three tires slashed outside their Bay Park home. Susan Lopez believes the message is in response to her Yes on Prop 8 sign.

With signs secured, Lopez says her opinions cannot be compromised. And she says neither should her opponent's.

San Diego Police arrested someone in Pacific Beach last week for stealing signs but dropped the charges when the suspect agreed to return the signs.

Police in Carlsbad made two arrests this past week and say two more cases are being investigated.

Meantime, the fight over Prop 8 turned physical in Bakersfield. Video shot by a protester Friday night shows 55-year-old Ken Mettler, an area "Yes on 8" campaign leader and a Kern High School District Trustee in a scuffle with 20-year-old San Diego resident Rob Badewitz.

Badewitz said he was hit in the jaw. According to Mettler, the fight broke out after Mettler went to remove "Yes" on Prop 8 signs that had been defaced. Mettler said he was defending himself. Neither of the men was arrested or pressed charges.

All the yes on Prop 8 signs were stolen on my street about a week ago. Also one was slashed previously. All the signs have since been replaced and are brought in at night.

If you really think about it the assaults on persons and property are in the long run a good thing. It lets people learn what is meant by the use of the terms “tolerance,” “equal rights,” “room at the table,” “the big tent,” etc. etc. My doctrine is hard but it will help prepare us for what might be coming.

I think it's the same-sex-marriage diddily-bob.

"Yes" means diddle anyone anywhere...I think. I'm in Seattle so I'm not up on the details.

“Why does the left think they have a right to silence their opposition?”

Because that’s what fascists do.

I got it backwards...."Yes" on Prop 8 is a vote for marriage between man and woman only.

No boy/boy, fattie/fattie or boy/chicken lashups allowed.

So, if I steal a candy bar at my local 7-11; can I get off the shoplifting charge if I return the candy bar after I am caught? Is there some magical law for stealing property, that applies only to signs in San Diego?

Last night this quisling started picking on a lady handing out PRO Prop-8 literature...

Quiling: “You’re a *horrible* *horrible* person ...”

Me: (smiling) No she isn’t. She’s a wonderful saint of the most high God!”

Quisling: (Bravely runs away)

It’s a shame. They have this “survival of the fittest” mentality that turns them into total bullies UNLESS they think you got something.
