Ohio paper backs McCain, Fla. paper endorses Obama (Paper Calls Palin Reckless Decision)

The Cincinnati Enquirer:

This is a time for a president with deep experience and proven character, a president who thrives in the great, good, honest middle ground in which most Americans live, a president forthright enough to tell us what we'd rather not hear, a president with the courage to follow his convictions and the grit to persevere.

This is Sen. John McCain's time. ...

McCain offers up his compelling biography as a war hero, his admirable candor and his centrist independence in an increasingly polarized political environment. A McCain administration would chart a wiser course on the economy than one led by his Democratic opponent, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

And as president, McCain would fill the need for some semblance of partisan balance in Washington, keeping what promises to be a more heavily Democratic Congress from running roughshod on business policy, unions, free trade, health care and more. ...

Obama's record lies to the left of most Americans, yet he is running as a centrist who can reconcile a range of viewpoints. But can we have confidence he will govern from the middle? Will he even need to, or be able to, with a Congress heavily controlled by Democrats, perhaps with a filibuster-proof Senate?

___

The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times endorsed Obama in an editorial set for publication Oct. 26: McCain, 72, remains an American hero, a former Vietnam prisoner of war whose service to his country has been honorable. Yet his campaign in recent months has been unworthy of his record and raises serious questions about his judgment and leadership if elected.

Most disturbing has been McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. It was a reckless decision based on political calculations, not the country's best interests.

Oh, the irony.

Only the American network news media would consider selecting a highly popular governer with a distinct record of achievement as VP "reckless" while endorsing an avowed marxist without a paper trail as president.

I gotta laugh or I'll pop a vein.

The St. Pete Times is somewhere to the left of the Daily Worker.

And Senator 0bama’s decision to select a severely brain damaged Senator Biden (two brain aneurysms, stupid is a judgment call, brain damaged is a matter of public record)? That is looking more and more like a BRILLIANT decision on his part that speaks well of his judgment and prudence/s.

Would have expected these two endorsements — Enquirer has leaned conservative for as long as I can remember.

I’ve come to the opinion that criticisms of Palin are simply the easy way out to justify a vote for Obama in an environment of racial bias accusations.

That idiot editor Phillip GAILY (great name, huh?) pulled this same crap in 1992 when the SPTimes endorsed Bill Clinton. I called and told him Clinton was a liar, so editor-moron-in-chief tells me “he’ll make a great President if we can believe him”. I simply cannot wait until damn near every newspaper in this country is gone. They are a liberal menace and a threat to our liberty.

Time to subscribe to the New York Post and Washington Times and watch the NY Times and the Washington Post rot - it is time to vote with our wallets- we can’t simply NOT buy the papers we despise - we need to support those we do. Investor’s Business Daily has impressed me during this election cycle with their insight and outspokenness in terms of the financial crisis. As expensive as it is, I’m tempted to take the leap. Also, keep in mind that Time and Newsweek are nothing more than Dem Shills and cannot be referred to as any kind of legitimate journalism - another place to NOT spend our money.

John McCain needs to remember for a very long time that the liberal media in all its forms have in almost lock step stabbed him in the back, and attempted to destroy Governor Palin, an excellent governor as well as woman, with lies and lying attacks.

They thought they could control McCain and that’s why they pushed him for the nominee. They were mistaken, and their anger has been rather alarming to say the least.
