RUSH: I went back, because I remembered something. This past summer, Gallup put out a poll, McCain needs to hammer this. It was June 27th, headline: "Americans oppose income redistribution to fix economy," by 84-13%. Hello, Joe the Plumber. "When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today's consumer, Americans overwhelmingly, 84-13, prefer that government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the job situation in the country as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans. Eighty-four to 13. This is back in June. Now, granted, gas prices were very high in June. The economy and the Wall Street mess had not yet come to the fore. It was effervescing out there. We hadn't gotten to the point where we're panicking and talking about bailouts. And in another portion of the same -- this is Gallup, now -- "Half of Americans think government is doing too much, not too little." This is the Joe the Plumber lesson.
The Joe the Plumber lesson is not who he is and not what he said. The lesson is what Obama said. But now the Drive-Bys have to go out and destroy Joe the Plumber. As I asked yesterday, how many Joe the Plumbers, Joe Six-Packs and Josephine the Plumbers are there? They are doing everything they can, the Obama campaign staff, the Drive-By Media, to destroy Joe the Plumber, and he's having some hard economic times right now like a lot of people are. They're even saying he's got this fantasy of owning a business. He's got a fantasy, as though that's not possible, who is this guy, thinking he's going to own a plumbing business. Call to MAC/Palin campaigns & Rep. hq’s and organize people to go with you.
If you are going to bring a plunger, remember that you can’t bring the stick part into a rally. So if you are staying outside a BO rally, that’s fine. If you are headed into the rally, you need to replace the stick with rolled corrogated paper carried separately until you’re in the rally.
This theme needs to be the universal cry against Socialism and carries the implicit message of unclogging the “waste’ from the system.

Also, saw a sign for “Phil the Bricklayer” in a Palin Rally.
At least JOE could obtain security clearance to be a WhiteHouse plumber. Anyone here think that barack could do the same?

If the McCain camp and RNC and 527s cannot turn such a huge issue on which the libs are down 84-13% into a disaster for the Obamessiah campaign then they deserve to lose.
We the People maybe do not deserve to lose, but the "professionals" who are supposed to guide this campaign and its ad content, ad spending, etc. WILL deserve to lose.
Of course, that poll was in June and maybe there's a shift in public views in the face of the current economic mess, but I'd guess that a large majority still rejects outright socialism and re-distribution when it's presented to them that way, and not in a gaseous effusion of Democrat programs and promises.
In addition to "spread the wealth" Obama also just said something about "tax the heck out of" the rich on the "back end" so that the Demagogues can "re-distribute" that money. He just said it this weekend, it's been discussed on another thread, I'll try to find it again....

Dear Rush:
I urge you to consider contacting Joe for the purpose of extending an offer to assist in creating a “Joe the Plumber” franchise that would operate across the nation.
There are certainly a number of existing, licensed small to medium sized plumbing contractors nation wide who would be willing on the basis of a business calculation to quickly become part of such a franchise. And, I submit most of them would also be proud to be associated with Joe.
Sen McCain will be able to point to Joe’s overnight success as the real model for how wealth is created in the United States.

This absolutely must be hammered. For one thing, as Rush always says, we have an obligation to TEACH the next generation (as well as our own) how to have political discernment.
Parents, teach your kids the difference between capitalism, socialism, capitalism. About their impact in history. About the eternal vigilance and sacrifice required to remain free.
If we have a public discussion about and public repudiation of socialism and socialists (Marxist, in Obama’s case) running for office in America because of Mr. Obama’s run, we possibly could do a very good work for our nation here.
Obama is a socialist (at the least). We must call him that and call him on that. We have to use him as an object lesson.

Well said! I am glad my parents did exactly that, and I have done it for my children.
It is a great thing for me to see my children now spontaneously arguing for truth, justice, and the American way (NOT tongue in cheek!), and opposing all types of despotic, dysfunctional and evil forms of government, especially socialism/fascism and all of its various perturbations with their various synonyms.
I have some Draino...And a pipe snake...
Bringing those two “harmless” items (to a rally) might send the right message...
Aren’t we ALL plumbers in some way, shape or form???
