EXCERPTS: Charlie Gibson Interviews Sarah Palin (September 11, 2008)
THE BOLDED & UNDERLINED PARTS WERE EDITED OUT OF THE INTERVIEW
(Excerpt) Read more at marklevinshow.com ...
I have a dual purpose with this post: I am very curious to see the FULL UNEDITED transcripts of the other parts of the interview (shown today), as I'm betting it would put Palin in an even better light (and I thought she did very well today).
Thx in advance FReepers, college_kid
We have a live one, ladies and gents: transcript exclusion of interview material by ABC! Whole segments!
actually im quite shock how much was edited out
They played the whole thing on Nightline
They really hacked it up for World News Tonight
They butchered the hell out of it
Thank you for that clarification; that’s not what I had heard. Any idea where I can find the ‘full’ transcripts of the other parts of the interviews?
thx, college_kid
That Palin challenged them on their half quote of her and they editted that out is outrageous. They were too cocky to check after an original source after the person who said the words challenged them or they are just liars.
Is the entire 20/20 interview out on video yet? All I can get on the ABC site are snippits of, I think, the Nightline interview. I didn’t get to watch it and can’t seem to find the full interview.
It is clear from the transcripts that the meaning and intent of the Governor was materially altered through creative editing.
Sorry, but the first thing I saw on this was “Hot Air” explaining that Gibson had misquoted Palin to Palin and would not backdown when she called him on it. That was enough for me not to waste any time watching any of it.
He slammed her saying “Exact quote” and he was dead wrong on that. Now that is Hubris.
I just watched her interview on 20/20. I think she was fantastic!
I think Charlie Gibson realized he made an ass out of himself yesterday and was on much better behavior for today’s interview. Gov. Palin looked great, sounded great. I think tonight’s interview (the one in primetime that will be viewed by the most people) was a solid triple.
You missed out. That was the first night. In tonight’s interview, Gibson was on better behavior and Gov. Palin really shined - for a PRIME TIME audience. I am very pleased.
They did not butcher it. They edited to purposely distort it.
Any mention of a conservative's success gets automatically cut? "We cannot repeat the Cold War. We are thankful that, under Reagan, we won the Cold War, without a shot fired, also."
It's too obvious why all these comments were cut out: her comments would have re-ignited the same response she got during, and the week following, the convention. Another example of the elitist media trying to shape an election, disgusting.
Butchers can be very skilled.
There it is, Charlie Gibson, that liberal POS, altered her quotation (or some punk within ABC didn’t bother to really look up the quotation), and so they admitted the crucial introductory “Pray that.....”
Gibson insists he is quoting her exact words when he is not, in fact ABC has drastically altered the meaning of her sentence. ABC should be pressured to issue a public apology.
They won’t of course, because they are biased partisan hacks for the Demagogues, but an apology is in order.
OOOPs, that should have said "omitted"..... typing too fast, but weird how the brain can substitute a different word when I knew exactly what I "meant" to say.....
Sometimes butchers cut themselves.
Giv’em time. They’ll bleed out.
They edited portions out so there would be enough time for the round table of pundits to explain to the public what they just watched (rather than allow people to draw their own conclusions).
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I just finished watching the 20/20 interview here on the west coast. I think she did just fine. She can handle these tough questions, didn’t get tripped up by what Gibson was CLEARLY trying to do, and we finally get out in her own words her take on the so called troopergate “scandal” and the book banning “rumors.” I give her a solid B.
An obvious propaganda chop job to shield Gibson concession to Palin.
Oh my gosh.
They took a hatchet to her! This is blatant!

This is criminal.

Palin, complete interview ping.
Let me ask you this. That question where she would not fall into the trap Gibson was setting for her about Israel attacking Iran. He asked it 3 times and each time very forcefully back in his face said we will not second guess Israel in how it chooses to defend itself. How well is that going to resonate with the Jewish people given who is on the other ticket?
Is there any word on how Levin obtained this? Is there other full transcripts of other portions of the interview? I dig a Google search and found zilch.
I have always maintained people will have far more respect for an individual who stands strong for what he or she truly believes, then in someone who changes their positions with based on their perceptions of the public “mood”
What about free will?
bump
They shouldn’t have edited out “war is hell and I hate war”.
I don’t know if you would want this, but on John McCain’s blog it has what is said to be tonight’s program (complete) on video.
God is outside of time and has no future or past. He simply is. He created everything including us and knew the decisions we would make before we were created. He knows the past, present and future position of every particle in the universe--if He didn't, it would be incapable of existence. No matter how hard we might try, we cannot frustrate His preordained plan. But at the same time we do have real free will and are responsible for our choices.
If you can't perfectly reconcile these two truths, then you do not possess the infinite Mind of God. Which I'm assuming you don't.
" How can all be preordained and yet have us with the ability to go in any direction WE choose? This statement as you have made it is at odds with itself.
"If you can't perfectly reconcile these two truths, then you do not possess the infinite Mind of God. Which I'm assuming you don't."
LOL, no I suppose I don't. The free will thing, which I believe in, and your notion that He knows or knew every decision he has and will make flies in the face of the free will argument. Much of religion is based on faith, which I have plenty of when it comes to my beliefs and I can except the all knowing aspect of Him but don't know about the idea that all has already been pre ordained (for us as individuals). I rather think God has given us free will in order to test us. Presenting temptation to see our strength and suffering among others to see our compassion.
These things in no way bother me, that suffering and wrong is such a large part of the world we live in, because I do believe in God's mercy and that there is a plan but that the plan is for each of us individually. We as individuals can fulfill his wishes for us or not based on how we react to the tests he presents us throughout our lives. In the end we alone determine whether or not we will see Him when our life here is done.
Sure we can frustrated His plan.
If a woman has an abortion, and her baby was meant to cure cancer, that frustrates His plan.
God knows the decisions we will make before we make them, but we still have the ability to make those decisions.
If there is any doubt that we are in a spritual/ideological war, this should blow it away like Hurricane Ike...
No One Has Spoken Like This Since Ronald Reagan.
