Andrea Mitchell (MTP) just repeats the rumor started by DU and elsewhere that McCain had the questions in advance. The only evidence she cited is that he did so well.

It's also possible that Senator McCain has a basic grounding in faith and values, so he already has a belief system he can rely on to answer questions quickly.

As opposed to trying to remember which daily DNC fax he is supposed to quote from.

I get the feeling more than one Democrat has turned Obama down for VP.

Speaking of the Clintons, the Dem convention and VP nominations:

First, did anyone else (or was it just me) hear that during that mid of night meeting at Feinstein’s house Obama offered the VP slot to Hillary and she turned it down flat? Not saying it’s true but this intriguing tidbit had been floating around this past week.

Second, I’m not at all sure the Clintons are the sole arbitrators on this convention. Of course that dynamic duo is deeply involved in anything that will increase their own power. BUT....by me, I think that the Dem powers-that-be are very, very concerned about Obama, as they should be. I’m convinced that allowing all that Clinton air time (Bill’s speech, Hill’s speech and even Chelsea!) is as much an agreement by the DNC as it is by Clinton maneuvering.

Either the DNC is so worried about Obama’s lackluster showing in the polls that they feel he NEEDS the drawing power of the Clintons, or else they’re keeping all options open, including a nomination of Hillary if need be.

Further, if there’s any truth to the rumor that Hill turned down the VP slot, I must assume that she thought she’d take away the presidential nomination from Obama, to hell with the VP.

I'm going to ask YOU real nice to check last week's thread:

I told Mathluv that Saxby Chambliss convinced me of the legitimacy of his oil-drilling-related, legislative efforts.

My sin. as always, was to voice dissent here within the Echo Chamber.

Then Txradioguy launch an unprovoked attack upon me.

I defended myself marvelously well, as is my wont. {I never start these things, but woe betide the poor, misbegotten soul who does!}

Then, at 4:38:56, well after the aforementioned skirmish had subsided Rodguy911 (who just volunteered to be your ally) came rollin' in with the following gratuitous cheap-shot:

"Different time different issue Cedric!! Back in your cage now!!"

If I were wired differently (thank God I'm not) I'd now be whining, "Where were you when I needed ya, Bab?"

But, I fight (and win) my own battles.

Of course it is murder, the same was as a teenager giving birth to a baby in the restroom stall and then stuffing baby in a trash can.

The whole “legal (Roe v Wade) justification” for abortion is mother’s choice. Her “right” to reproductive freedom. The rights of the baby are ignored because the baby is not a “person” yet because it is not “viable” (being able to survive outside mother’s womb, breathing, etc). Once that baby is outside mother’s womb and is breathing, then it is viable and has 14th amendment rights to “life, liberty... etc.). The mother’s rights are no longer involved.

Her inconvenience may be a factor, but she could surrender child to state if she does not wish to care for him/her.

Even Roe v Wade contemplated state protections for children in 3rd trimester of pregnancy. But the courts and baby killers have reached beyond birth to kill innocent children.

Obama should know this! He is a self-styled Constitutional law professor. /sarc

This being the same Andrea Mitchell that reported the “rumor” that McCain was the one that kept Obama from visiting the wounded troops. Andrea Mitchell no longer a reporter, a rumor monger!

Don’t get me wrong; I like W too, but I don’t think he is right 100% of the time. After listening to him for several years, I think Sammon does.

Fine, but you came on here THIS week carrying over a fight from LAST week? Nobody this week said anything; your post was the first to try and stir that pot again.

Not going to happen. Take it somewhere else.

You left off deficit spending from the list of things to not like. Otherwise I agree with you about President Bush.

Hooray for you Alas. I too am a big Bush apologist, I think history will be very kind to President Bush and excoriate the media. Although there are some things Bush has done that I am not all the keen on, overall he gets an A from me.

BTW: I just sent my first donation to McCain today. This in response to his superb performance last night.

Or maybe I’m being too pollyannish, maybe there’s a large subset of people out there who think it’s okay to smother living, breathing babies.

Aw c'mon... you're postulating beyond your pay grade! ;)

more than one Democrat has turned Obama down for VP.

They all want to run against President McCain in 4 years, without the resume of being on the losing ticket, ala Edwards, Lieberman.

Mitt Romney doing very well on Stephy’s show. Stephy pushing back hard, but Romney is showing how stupid Stephy is. The entire discussion (of which I have only seen a portion) is about Georgia/Russia and how McCain has been all over this story for a long time. Mitt talks to the point that this demonstrates that McCain is the only choice for President.

Dashle trying to put Obama in play here talking about what a great diplomat Obama is and that is what is really needed here. Not someone who understands history, but someone who can sing kumbuya with our enemies. E-gads.

Romney wiping the floor with both Stephy and Dashle.
