A Texas publicist who says she was Rielle Hunter's confidant when her secret affair began with John Edwards is convinced the ex-senator fathered her friend's baby.
"She would not have a child with someone that she didn't love - and she loves him," said Pigeon O'Brien, who says she was pals with Hunter for 20 years until they lost touch a year ago.
As "who's the daddy" speculation persisted, the National Enquirer reported last night that Edwards lied when he told the nation - and his sick wife - that he ended the "short" affair in 2006.
Edwards renewed the sexual relationship and continued to secretly see the 44-year-old videographer, even after his wife was diagnosed in March 2007 with fast-spreading cancer, the Enquirer said on its Web site, citing sources.
He also has met at least three times with Hunter and her 5-month-old daughter in Beverly Hills, Calif., according to the Enquirer, which uncovered the affair.
O'Brien told CBS' "Early Show" she thinks Hunter still expects to end up with Edwards, eventually. "I believe she hopes it will" work out, she said.
Hunter's sister, asked Tuesday if the affair is still going on, gave a smirk but no answer. Roxanne Marshall told "Entertainment Tonight" she was shocked by Edwards' "half-truths" and wished he would "just come clean."

What is the irony that she is the one that is refusing the paternity tests? Either she was paid off to state that she didn’t need one or she 100 percent knows who the daddy is.
I said it before: once the money trains stops she’ll run as fast as her legs can carry that baby for a DNA test.

Until the woman in the story will allow DNA testing, which Edwards has said he’d be happy to do, I don’t believe that it’s his, and she’s just a gold digger. Unless she’s changed her tune from a couple days ago, she doesn’t want to have any testing done. Yes, he had an affair, but that’s not the issue in this story. He’s already admitted to that.
In the media piece I saw where the reporter asked him straight out if he was screwing around you should have seen how his jaw was a shaking like he had the shivers as he lied.
Let’s not forget those 18 million Hiliarly voters who are being whipped into a frenzy by folks like Howard Wolfson who have been suggesting that were it not for Edwards lying during the primaries, that Hiliarly would have won the Iowa caucuses, derailed the Obama Messiah-Train, and would even now be the presumptive nominee-in-waiting.
And Edwards endorsing Obama-lama-ding-dong didn’t help. LOL
As many lies as this hustler has told I’m wondering (and hoping so for her sake) if his wife really does have terminal cancer or is that just another lie told for personal gain?
I wonder if she would “love” him all the same if he were a trash collector with no money. I don’t buy that bull for a second.
Women don’t usually love men who are a lot better looking than them.
I feel bad for her too.....to a point. She helped hide the lie since 2006 though.

Of course Edwards will say that. They have already paid her off to NOT allow a test.
OTOH, if it is not his baby, why is he playing with it in Beverly hills at 9 PM?
