Barack Obama: The international president
The Jakarta Post ^ | Aug. 11, 2008 | Eric Walker,

It's true that enthusiasm for Barack Obama around the world is sky-high.

Furthermore, the trip did little to assuage many voters' concerns about Obama's lack of foreign policy experience, an issue that McCain holds a 15-point advantage in among voters.

Obama's popularity in the Islamic world has also earned him some dubious admirers that the McCain camp has been eager to point out. In April, Ahmed Yousuf, political advisor to Hamas said in an interview that, "actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community not with domination and arrogance."

This endorsement, coupled with Barack Obama's statements that he would establish diplomatic relations with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has given him headaches with America's pro-Israel electorate that remains skeptical of a president liked by people in the Middle East.

While Obama may be the breath of fresh air that many people in the international community have been waiting for after 8 years of holding their breath with the Bush administration, the same things that have given many people around the world a reason to support him are the same things that his opponents have been using as ammunition against him.

The Obama camp made the point that if other nations were allowed to vote in the American election, Obama would beat McCain by a sound margin in almost every country where there's been a poll. Unfortunately for him, the United States is still in the undecided column.

Recommend reading the entire article. It is meant as a pro-Obama editorial, but it brings up some issues that are exactly why Obama hasn't been able to close the deal with the American people.

Maybe Obama should run for "President of the Muslim World" and stay out of the US, and let us have an AMERICAN president.

Also note the disinformation, stating the Obama was always a Christian, when in fact there is proof that his religion was listed as Muslim in the school records in Indonesia, and Obama himself admits that he became a Christian in Rev. Wright's church in 1986 or thereaboutns.

>>>The Obama camp made the point that if other nations were allowed to vote in the American election, Obama would beat McCain....<<<

And you can be assured that if Obama wins, that is the direction we would be headed in - just look at his Obama s "Global Poverty Act now being debated in the Senate.

It gives the UN dominion over how America spends its foreign aid - and increases that aid by $845 Billion over the next few years.....it would pledge 0.7% of US GDP to the UN.

With Obama - US sovereignty is DEAD!

In today's world, with today's circumstances (ie. the serious situation in Georgia, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc., etc.) , Americans better darn well ask themselves who they want at the helm.

CHOOSING THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

Obama spent a good piece of his life overseas.
