1. Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) Marsha Blackburn has been a member of Congress since 2003. She attractive and a very strong conservative. I hate to play the gender card, but I believe that McCain needs a female vice president on the ticket. She would be appealing to disenfranchised conservatives and to women at the same time.
Should be Gov Palin
With an 84% approval rating
Gee, that’s 75% more than congess
Sorry! Wow that came out big.
She’s a bad choice in 2008. Still green and wet behind the ears. Also Alaska hasn’t given the nation many national leaders. She may have a future in national politics, and is clearly a rising star, but no sense in rushing her along.
Still laughing.
I agree, she looks and sounds like the female version of Poppy’s youthful, good-looking Dan Quayle pick.
She looks good to me.
So does Romney.
Anybody but B. Hussein Obammy O’Baloney and his really, really lovely, sweet, kind, compassionate, warm, loving and tolerant wife, Michelle, my belle.
I like Marsh, but, she lacks executive experience, Give Marsha the EPA job and she would get that experience.
I don’t know much about Sarah Palin, but, everything I have heard gives tremendous respect for her. Soccer mom, she almost has a full team. The pity is that all VP choices seem to be better than McCain.
A Palin/Blackburn ticket to the future.
Wow—if these items are true, she is a major disappointment.
I’ll withhold judgment until there is an independent justification of the facts—maybe some TN Freepers can add their insights.
But,man, is there any politician left who thinks that public service does not equal self-service?
Then look at what Barak has to chose from...
She’s not ‘Soccer Mommy’ at all. Women don’t like women who look like serious threats to their steal their husband or boyfriend, especially if they are significantly better looking, in better shape, and better maintained than they are.
‘Soccer Mommy’ is more like Rachel Ray, attractive but more cute than anything else. A little chubby. Pleasant, the type that says ‘no problem’ and picks up another soccer mom’s kids at school. Pleasant but ultimately non-threatening to her status quo.
Soccer moms hate women that look like Blackburn do in their mid 50s. If she says “I was speaking to your husband at a recent cocktail party over at the firm...,” those words send a chill down the spine of the typical middle aged woman who let herself go a bit. To their minds she is a threat to their status quo,
Anyone who thinks an attractive woman like her appeals to soccer moms is clueless when it comes to what makes that particular animal tick.
Just the facts. ;-)
On the other hand, a woman who looks like her gets a complete free pass were she the wife of a president. Women don’t hold a first lady’s looks against her.
If it is experience which determines how people will vote then the VP pick isn’t too relevant since Obama would lose out on that particular quality. Any voter worried about experience will already be voting McCain over Obama, regardless of the VP perhaps?
I agree on the rising stars but I am reluctant to rush them along. You are correct.
The local Memphis airwaves are filled with ads on this race. I live in Southaven MS so I hear them all the time.
Dan Quayle, George Bush, Al Gore, etc. all disagree that it'll be Romney - perhaps not personally, but the whole concept of having someone on the bottom of the ticket that a lot of delusional conservatives would rather have at the top of the ticket is something that just doesn't happen. You don't have a VP people would rather have as president. Romney might find himself in an administration position, but he's not going to be VP.
I'd much rather have Fred Thompson on the bottom of the ticket, but I'm not going to get what I want. Marsha Blackburn would be an excellent choice for John, and probably the inside source is floating her, not that she's actually on the short list. Considering the silence from Tommy Thompson, yet the minor drumbeat of stories about Tommy Thompson, I suspect the former HHS secretary and former governor of Wisconsin is on the short list.
I'm not a big one on choosing people because of their gender or race, but pretty sure that there's some great candidates out there who would fill several big 'firsts' in the VP's office.
In her case, a big picture is fine. Very fine.
If you ever do that with Helen Thomas, you will be banned for life!
The other side is Jim Cooper...a Blue Dog...not a rabid left coast social engineer but a Dem nonetheless.
We donate to Marsha every election and have an invite to her next bash at the Ryman and her family plays t-ball with my kids at Old Hickory WSNL Cal Ripken.
She has never let us down and we would hate to lose her.
I saw this as a serious chauvinist who firmly believes that more often than not that women are less capable of leading and handling stress and adversity but since Queen Elisabeth the First ain't running I would be very happy with Marsha or that Alaska gal.
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Martha for VP
:)
The conservatives will love her...
Young, goodlooking, etc
Pro-life, pro-family, 2nd Amendment, active agains the illegal alien invasion, supports the troops and WOT, etc
Whats not to like ?????
:)
THe new replacement had a history of sex harassment, and they both tried to cover that u.
NO, you do not want Sara - besides -she is a big a RINO as John....
