In a rambling interview with the Daily Kos -- the blog site that published the supposedly authentic Barack Hussein Obama birth certificate and his own birth certificate manipulations in the same June 12 post, Jay McKinna, aka opendna, says he manipulated the Obama birth certificate to create a blank Hawaii birth certificate as a "template," supposedly for a John McCain birth certificate. But he says it was not an attempt at deception but a "lame joke" that he now regrets.
But in trying to avoid legal trouble, he further undermines the claim of the Barack Obama campaign that the images posted on Daily Kos prove that the candidate was Hawaii born. McKinnon, who says he was trained in document analysis by the Department of Homeland Security, says it's impossible to assess the authenticity of a birth certificate from image files rather than paper documents. "It should be self-evident that a JPEG [image file] of a scanned official document cannot be valid."

Ongoing confusion ping.
Typical liberal reply when they get in trouble: “It was a joke gone bad.”
Seems pretty weird to me. You’d think that the Obama campaign would have iced this controversy weeks ago if they could. How long does it take to get a paper copy of a birth certificate from any state office?
This is starting to remind me of Kerry’s service records.
Just great...a Kos Kid is working for DHS. No wonder our military secrets end up on the front page of the NYT.
Since Obama’s Web site claims the image of his BC is real if he produces a BC that isn't exactly the same he's got big issues. It now may be a catch 22.
What part of our government in charge of determining who can become president and enforcing their ruling? Is it legal to run for president and receive the nomination of a party without being eligible? Can one get as far as being elected by the people without proving eligibility? Do the federal marshals show up at the inauguration and say, “Sorry, pal.”
Someone needs to clear this up soon.
He needs to produce the hard copy. That is the bottom line.
This can all go away very quickly if he simply shows the public a paper copy.
It would seem there are only a few options:
1) He doesn't really have one and is hoping the problem will simply go away.
2) He doesn't have one and is trying to get the records “corrected” and that takes time.
3) He has one but it is different in a negative way than what was presented on his Web site.
4) He has one and he's letting it be a distraction while he slides on other issues. And when it gets enough attention he'll present it to say look, they lied about me. So when the next thing comes along he'll say that's a lie too regardless of the actual facts.
5) He has one and he and his campaign are completely incompetent.
Item number 4: Ding, ding, ding, ding!!!!
“4) He has one and he’s letting it be a distraction while he slides on other issues. And when it gets enough attention he’ll present it to say look, they lied about me. So when the next thing comes along he’ll say that’s a lie too regardless of the actual facts.”
He can produce all sorts of childhood photos but can’t produce a birth certificate?
You have to have been born in a "state" in order to do that.
If Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii or elsewhere in the U.S.A., where was he born?
Other than there’s a constitutional issue with one’s birth status verses one’s military service records.
Some of his relatives claimed he was born in Kenya.
Do you know if anyone has gone to the library in Honolulu and searched old newspaper microfiche files?
Most newspapers printed birth notices provided by the hospitals. Find the public notices from August 1961. Is his name there?
There are many who believe we are being duped into commenting on this controversy of Obama’s origin and I can understand that concern BUT, I believe we have a legitimate reason to question these documents posted on Kos and the Obama website.
They have been analyzed and proven to be false so we have a good defense to present IF the purpose was to present this site as group of conspiratorial nut jobs.
If posters are worried about their comments on a personal basis then a simple disclaimer* can be inserted after each post.
*My posted opinions are based solely on the documents representing Obama’s birth certificate on Kos and on the Obama website., If and when a valid and verifiable copy of his birth certificate is produced by the Obama campaign, the controversy of his origins will be put to rest.
If item 4 is true, then the Obama camp would also have to be in on “the Joke”. The forged version at the Daily Kos is the same forged document that came from Obama’s campaign.
Listen, I know that Obama has already proven himself to be incredibly deceptive, but this does not follow that pattern.
He is deliberately lieing about something, or for some incredibly stupid reasoning, believes that a moronic, sophomoric joke as some believe, will now somehow help him. Because if this is a “joke”, it is now a joke perpetrated by himself, and for what reason, I ask again...
Like "Prankin' Al Franken's" letter to John Ashcroft and other officials on Harvard Stationery, inquiring about their experiences resisting sexual temptation.
