and the fact that his family has outed him as a Muslim doesn’t matter, we of FR continue to spread “baseless” rumors that he is a muslim, when in fact he really is! Lefties, the biggest liars in the world. Free speech means nothing to these people, unless of course it is their free speech.

Whether he is a Muslim or a Baptist is irrelevant to me. What's more important is that he is a Marxist and an idiot.

I find it interesting that these types of articles always say that the rumor and innuendo has been refuted or debunked by the mainstream press, yet I never see any credible analysis or detailed refutation. It's like Obama's "fight the smears" site which simply says that Claim X is untrue and, presto, it is so because they said so.

I was raised a Catholic. Would it be fair to speculate about the effect of Catholicism on me? I think it would be. For Obama to simply say he’s a Christian shouldn’t render the issue closed.

Head's up, folks! You've been named in the Washington Post today!

(snip from original article)

Poring over these early articles on the topic, Allen noticed what she thought was an important pattern. In each instance, someone had posted the articles on the Free Republic Web site, prompting a discussion involving the same handful of people, with several expressing a desire to spread the word about Obama's supposed faith.

Keeper of the Obama File

Of the file folders that are spread in neat rows across Allen's desk, only one is bulging. It holds printouts of the reams of conversations about Obama's religion appearing on Free Republic. Since its start in 1996 by Jim Robinson of Fresno, Calif., the site has grown into a home for discussion of all types -- though it is particularly noted for spirited political discussions dominated by conservatives and libertarians. Freepers, as they're called, converse with a varying degree of transparency. Most remain anonymous.

Allen counted 23 freepers among those engaging in regular discussions about Obama's religion, and isolated a handful whom she began to suspect as having a role in the e-mail. Sifting through hundreds of postings, she began to piece together their identities. There was "Beckwith," whom she pegged as a veteran from Boston, old enough to vote for John F. Kennedy, in uniform by 1964, and host of a Web site that devotes considerable space to an "Obama file" that says the senator is "by birth, blood and training, a Muslim."

Allen found Beckwith discussing the matter in a Jan. 13 clip from a Web-based conservative radio show based in San Diego. In his thick Boston brogue, Beckwith told hosts Jeff Lynch and Mike Howard that Obama's "relationship to Islam is the big question. When one investigates the background of Obama's conversion, I can find no record of his baptism."

"Wow! Interesting!" Lynch gasped.

"This guy could easily be the Muslim Manchurian candidate," Howard said.

As Allen scanned his postings on Free Republic, she noticed that Beckwith repeated several phrases that also surface in the e-mail. Beckwith called Obama "an apostate Muslim, educated in madrassas." And when Beckwith later repudiated the "madrassa" claim -- after it was debunked by the mainstream media -- the term disappeared from subsequent versions of the chain e-mail. The Post located Beckwith in a Boston suburb, and he agreed to be interviewed under the condition that he not be identified because "I get a lot of really nutty stuff and some of it's threatening." The 69-year-old said he is retired as a software engineer and lives alone, but for brief stints babysitting for his grandchildren. He said he started a Web site in 2005 "because I don't play golf." His initial goal was to take swats at the liberal left. "Then this new guy comes along called Obama," he said.

Beckwith said he built a Web site that features hundreds of pages of material intended to undermine Obama. "If 20 percent of what's on my Web site is true, this guy is a clear and present danger," Beckwith said. (He later added, "I try very hard to be accurate.") But while Beckwith speaks with pride about his research -- much of which he credits to an unnamed "colleague" in Europe -- and to his extensive Obama files, he rejects outright the suggestion that he authored the chain e-mail. "I've never been involved with any e-mailings. Period," he said.

Another Free Republic participant who attracted Allen's interest went by the handle "Eva." She was one of the first to write on the site about Obama's religion -- in November 2006 she began repeating the phrase "Once a Muslim, always a Muslim," when discussing Obama.

With the help of Allen's biographical sketch, The Post located Eva in rural Washington state. She is Donna Shaw, 60, a teacher who said Obama's ability to captivate audiences made her deeply uneasy because his "tone and cadence" reminded her of the child revivalist con-man preacher Marjoe Gortner.

Wow she sure is busy. Isn't there some kind of conflict of interest going on here...she's using work time to do "research" for a candidate who she supports. What? Oh she's a Democrat-Socialist so it's "different" for her.

I'm sure the Marxist in Obama can think of many ways so don't worry your pretty little head Ms Allen.

Well, it’s another reason why some of us need to stop spreading this BS about Obama being a Muslim. This is the sort of misinformation the left intentionally sends out in an attempt to discredit legitimate stories. Anyway, just because someone is a Muslim doesn’t mean they can’t still love America and be patriotic. Look at the millions of Muslims we have freed around the world. I’m sure many of them, as well as their relatives here in the States, are appreciative of this. Obama, on the other hand (the left one), is surrounded by people who DO hate America. Many are actually revolutionary communists to this day and are completely open about it. Please see my 10:30am ET post from today.

“the attacks on Obama are different”

So are Obamas attacks on the citizens of the US. He’s a highly captivating, smarmy and unrelentent flip-flopper(or liar) who’s defensive maneuvers always call for falling back and whining about racist atttacks on him. If it’s something he can’t explain, he or his surrogates pull out the race card to silence his critics.

Obama’s aides have made the smears a top target. They recently launched FightTheSmears.com to “aggressively push back with the truth,” said Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor, and go viral with it.
***So it looks like Obama’s aides have been sitting down on the job when it comes to his birth certificate forgery.

As an Obama supporter — (Allen) had met the senator while she worked as a dean at the University of Chicago — it made her angry. And curious. “I started thinking, ‘How does one stop it?’ “
***It’s good to see the bias right up front.

Her eyes fell on this untrue sentence: “ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Kuran (Their equivalency to our Bible, but very different beliefs).” The use of “their equivalency” and the spelling of “Kuran” instead of “Koran” made the sentence her point of departure. That search showed that the first mention of the e-mail on the Internet had come more than a year earlier. A participant on the conservative Web site FreeRepublic.com posted a copy of the e-mail on Jan. 8, 2007, and added this line at the end: “Don’t know who the original author is, but this email should be sent out to family and friends.”
***Ahh, Free REpublic. I’m so proud. I wonder which Freeper gets the credit on this one?

I read the whole 4 pages of the story. Not once did the article attempt to clear the air about Obama. Instead they just talk about how people are talking about whether Obama is a Muslim or not. Gee, is that a sin?

Dr Allen, instead of wasting your time tracking people who are engaged in free speech, why didn't you just sit down with Obama and interview him on his complete background and then do a check on what he told you about his background, then report that?!

Or is that just too obvious for a "genius!" You have done nothing to clear the air. And that's unfortunate and amounts to a waste of your time.

We are all back to square 1.

"What I've come to realize is, the labor of generating an e-mail smear is divided and distributed amongst parties whose identities are secret even to each other," she says

It also aggressively disregards the fundamental principle of free societies that one be able to debate one's accusers."

This is nothing more than trying to build a case for a fairness doctrine type mandate for the Internet. It will begin with demanding that people use their real names and that will effectively shut people up.

Liberals are all about "choice" UNTIL you choose differently than them.

I know this, whether he actually is or is not Islamic, he can recite the Islamic call to prayer perfectly in Arabic...and did so in one interview, calling it one of the most beautiful sounds in the world.

Many Islamics believe, due to the definitive nature of that prayer, that anyone who recites it becomes a "Muslim".

All of that aside, by his actions and positions in the IL and US Senates, and by his willful, long-term assocaiations, Obama is marked as the most anti-American and marxist individual to ever gain the nomination of any major party in US history.

Amazon Book Review:
"Vastly Illuminating!" September 25, 2004
By Kat Bakhu

"I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air."

Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left -by David Horowitz

August, 2003: Ward Churchill Caught On Tape Advocating Terrorism vs Fellow Americans!

Audio link at Michell Malkin's website (included below)

Question from audience:
You mentioned a little bit ago, "Why did it take a bunch of Arabs to do what you all should have done a long time ago," that's my question.

Churchill: I'm gonna repeat that, tell me if I got that right: Why shouldn't we do something and how do you you move so they don't see you coming.

As to the first part, not a reason in the world that I could see. I can't find a single reason that you shouldn't in a principled way —there may be some practical considerations, such as do you know how (laughter from audience)

—you know, often these things are processes. It's not just an impulse. And certainly it's not just an event.

And the simple answer, although it probably should be more complicated, but I'm not being flip and giving the simple answer, is:
You carry the weapon. That's how they don't see it coming. You're the one...

They talk about "color blind or blind to your color." You said it yourself.

You don't send the Black Liberation Army into Wall Street to conduct an action.

You don't send the American Indian Movement into downtown Seattle to conduct an action.

Who do you send? You. Your beard shaved, your hair cut close, and wearing a banker's suit.

There's probably a whole lot more to it, you know that. But there's where you start. .."

(chain email) food for thought

George Carlin’s Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions. “How old are you?” “I’m four and a half!” You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key

You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
“How old are you?” “I’m gonna be 16!” You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; “I Was JUST 92.”

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. “I’m 100 and a half!” May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!”

If this woman is considered a genius based upon the wildly simplistic methods displayed in this article, I must be a god.  I do agree with the analysis of how rumors start and stick in the minds of people at a later point as fact, but she is dishonest in leading the reader to think only one side does this.  Take for example the wholly dishonest point that Obama and his immediate handlers use daily of being the 3rd Bush term, or the never ending war in Iraq.  It's all a lie.

I bet she's running down freeper 'pissant' at this moment as he is on a terror of a phony birth certificate.

Ms. Allen has verified the effectivness of FR and political emails. If they weren't effective, she wouldn't be wasting her time, and threatening with exposure. Goal: instill fear.

I don't believe she understands the motivation behind Obama's exposure is the predominant fear of the extreme threat he poses.

This article is some shady journalism.
1. Doesn’t link to ANY source material. (While explaining why not linking to source material is a “danger to democracy”)
2. Doesn’t explain a single issue regarding the Indonesian mass media exposes on Obama’s childhood (state funded madrassa) education and Koran memorization.
3. Doesn’t explain any of Freeper expatguy’s gumshoe journalism in Obama’s childhood Jakarta neighborhood and school regarding his upbringing.
4. Doesn’t mention any of the Bahasa Indonesian to English translations of the Indonesian mass media exposes by a variety of people, including Freeper expatguy.
5. Doesn’t refute or even attempt to explain why a “guerrilla tactics” are unethical when the documentation of Obama’s Muslim childhood is coming in from dozens of verified first hand sources. She has, to put it bluntly, a xenophobic disdain for Indonesian journalists.
6. Doesn’t understand digital media longtail journalism, FreeRepublic is at the tall end of long tail journalism, this “professor” should understand this, there’s only been a few dozen books written on the subject, including Glenn Reynold’s Army of Davids bestseller.

What a mess. This woman must be a huge fan of John Adams’ Alien and Sedition Act.

This “genius” obviously did a poor job...

In the belief and eyes of Muslims — birth to a Muslim father, makes Obama a Muslim.

Muslims throughout the world CONTINUE to think of him as a Muslim..

His relatives in Kenya have described him as a Muslim.

Only Obama declares himself a “Christian”— and we've all seen the “Christian” church he elected to join.....

Sorry "genius" — Obama is demonstrably far more Muslim than Christian.

They don't have to teach, and they face no quotas on what they publish. Their only mandate is to work in the tradition of Einstein, wrestling with the most vexing problems in the universe.
Holy macaroni and cheese, how in the world do you get a job like that? I mean, they don't even have to come up with any answers. I wonder how you fill out the job application, "As a razor sharp person, I ruminate at least three times a day on which came first, the chicken or the egg." What's the job title? Most vexing universal problems wrestler? Will that even fit on a regular size business card? This sounds like an episode of Star Trek where some planet is ruled by a group of "Thinkers" who got everyone hoodwinked into actually listening to them until Captain Kirk gets the super hot looking girl "Thinker" to fall in love with him and then, after beating the snot out of a jealous male "Thinker", exposes them as a band of frauds and the whole planet goes back to being cavemen or something. Sadly, if this "genius" had just read a book about urban legends and how they're spread in the internet age, she could have saved herself a lot of time. But I guess that wouldn't take a lot of wrestling. Maybe this "elite" bunch are a lot like artistes- they have to suffer.

It is just me, or does the author clearly have the hots for this Allen woman? Half of the article is about how this Allen woman is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Scary, Dr. Allen leaves no room for anyone else but her to be correct! Be damned with Free Speech! anything that doesn’t support her thoughts are wrong, devisive, and smears. She indirectly calls Quaddafi a smear artist! Why? Just yesterday he praised the possibility that Obama will be elected “because Obama is like Us, a Muslim!” Dr. Allen appears to be a less than objective scholar.

Danielle Allen , I did some stringing of key words myself, and it led me to the fact that Obama supports infanticide....In searching information about Danille Allen, and her book about Promotheus, I was led to the keyword Pandora and Pandora’s bos, which lead me back to evil of Obama’s support of Post Abortion. Yes it is interesting to trace keywords on the internet. Who would of thought that from finding out information about Danielle Allen, that it would lead to the fact that Obama is a supporter of killing the unborn. How does Obama hope to gain the Catholic Vote when he supports the killing of the unborn.

Odd that Ms. Allen seems to have not noticed Freepers who debunk false or questionable claims or that she couldn’t find the same false stories filling page after page of Huffington Post, Democratic Underground, Moveon.org, DailyKOS and other leftist sites known for spreading much BDS over the past 8 years.

The e-mail landed in Danielle Allen's queue one winter morning as she was studying in her office at the Institute for Advanced Study, the renowned haven for some of the nation's most brilliant minds. The missive began: “THIS DEFINITELY WARRANTS LOOKING INTO.”

Comment:

Intimidation is the name of the game.

I believe these truth squads have been used extensively in past communist, socialists, fascists and dictatorial governments to quieten the opposition with intimidation.

The next thing will be an Obama enemies list compiled by the master list compiler and new friend, Hillary.

Question?

Did Allen have the permission to use information from Free Republics web posting to other members?

What say you Jim Robinson?

Further comment:
Advanced Study, the renowned haven for some of the nation's most brilliant minds...err ROFLMAO...

Should read, Advanced Study, the unknown cabal to most common sense Americans, haven for some of the nation's most radical, Kool-Aid drinking very dangerous minds.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste especially the way Allen is using hers, like a mind numbed robot.

From a political science viewpoint, Dr. Allen makes some interesting and valid observations about the Internet as a political tool.
