That’s what’s so ironic about that statement out of Kennedy -

our society is MUCH WORSE NOW from what he describes as “evolving standards”,

which, I’m sure, being a lib, he believes are BETTER now than ever before.

Interesting that we never hear of home-schooled kids getting pregnant.

Probably because their parents keep it hidden. Really, is this tragic story of a newborn life so callously snuffed out the time to bring up home schooling?

Agreed.

We have an ever-widening dichotomy in America. Civil War within the next 50 years would not surprise me.

Didn’t I read something like this about a month ago on Free Rep? I hope it’s the same story and not a new one. Stuff like this just makes me cry.

You probably meant to send this to #1, which was the comment I was directing my response to.

Wow. Who (and how old) was babydaddy? Somebody wasn’t paying as much attention as she thought.

This is how unwed motherhood should be treated.

The mom should be secluded. There should be a sense of profound shame and sorrow. The baby should be adopted and not aborted.

Forget the baby showers, the free day care at school, the school support groups, the nursing mother’s rooms at school, and the gangs of other girls cooing over the new baby....etc.

"Please remember that this is a 14-year-old child who has experienced a tragic event," he wrote in a statement.

BULLSH*T.

At fourteen, I certainly knew the difference between right and wrong, and that it was wrong to kill another innocent human being.

If she didn't want the 'trauma' of a child, she should have kept her @#$%* legs shut.

Probably an adult in his twenties or older.

"How could this nurse not tell this girl was pregnant??????? "

That's easy... a GOVERNMENT EMPLOYED nurse!! The kind we will all have when Obama socializes Health Care!

She probably can't hack it in a real hospital, but hey... GOOD ENOUGH FOR GOVERNMENT WORK! (OMG I read recently that Algore was stupid enough to think this was a compliment about government excellence)

There are no good kids in public school. None. It may well be that your kids are the only good ones on this earth, so feel good about that!

Don't paint with such a broad brush. My kids graduated from public school. My oldest son is training in fighters right now (USAF) and my youngest son has a divinity degree and is two weeks away from marrying a young woman whose father is the pastor of a church. And these two had a nearly absent father since they were 4 and 8 years old. The problem is not the schools nearly as much as the family's moral influence.

I always taught my boys the value of life and the sadness of abortions. They were raised with the knowledge that they have to protect the girls they date and not allow the risk of a pregnancy--especially because they would have no control over what the girl might do if she became pregnant.

What kind of relationship would a girl have to have with her parent/s to do such a thing?

I think you nailed it. Every time I hear one of these stories my first thought is the girl was too afraid to go to her parents for help. Children should be raised to believe that when they have a problem, their parents will be there for them and help them to deal with the problem. No matter what the problem is, nothing should stand in the way of a child knowing they can count on their parents. I always made a point to tell my girls repeatedly that they could tell me anything and I would help them. Even though I did this, when my oldest daughter at 19 got pregnant at college, she admitted she was afraid to tell me at first because she didn't know what my reaction would be. I can only imagine if we hadn't had the relationship we had how hard it would have been.

I have heard parents of teen daughters threaten to disown, throw out of the house, and even kill them if they got pregnant. I taught my daughters all the negatives of having sex too young and/or under the wrong circumstances and how it would effect their lives if they got pregnant when they weren't prepared to deal with it, but always tried to make them feel that there was nothing they could not come to me with if they needed help.

I think there is something really wrong with anyone that could murder or abandon a their newborn, but when it is a young girl I always wonder if it is a deep seated fear of their parents that brings them to that point.

I know of homeschooled girls that have become pregnant. Maybe it doesn’t make the news- but it happens.

not a very forgiving, Christ-like world we live in, is it, Morgan? Nope — not one bit.

Quick to judge — to condemn — slow to allow people to find redemption and to change and learn and grow.

babydaddy was 15 and just as immature as the 14 year old was. Actually -— after lots of family counseling and the justice system giving them all a break — the father and mother got married a few years later to each OTHER, kept the baby like I said, and went on to have more children and are a great Christian family now.

Happy ending — not very common, unfortunately.
