The new sheriff has a big task in front of her in terms of reforming a troubled and mismanaged department rocked by abuse and corruption scandals. Unfortunately, Sandra Hutchens who was installed as sheriff Thursday in a small ceremony in the clerk's office is about to take the wrong approach on an issue of serious concern to Orange County residents: gun rights.

Goodie. Why go after criminals when you can go after law-abiding citizens ?
GAG
I’m glad I don’t live in calf
Does not be infringed mean anything to this Moron?
No, they focus only on the “well-regulated” part of the sentence.

Sandra Hutchens, 53-year-old, former Los Angeles County cop
“...Goodie. Why go after criminals when you can go after law-abiding citizens ?...”
Because it is so much easier and safer. Duh!
If you look up "regulated" in an older dictionary, one of the definitions is "conforming to a standard", which is probably what the authors of the 2A had in mind.
A couple of passages jumped out at me from the original article:
"The important thing to me is they need to have demonstrated a need," Hutchens said.
And if there's no need, she'll revoke the permits. "That's probably not going to be popular with a lot of people," she said.
"...I'm quite sure the new lady wants to make sure everything is squeaky clean and make sure there's no patronage",
Seems to me that if a sheriff has the right to approve or revoke CHLs based on their own personal (arbitrary) criteria, that is by definition patronage.
It doesn’t HAVE to be, if you catch my drift. :-)
And if there's no need, she'll revoke the permits. "That's probably not going to be popular with a lot of people," she said.
You just come and try that, sugartits. You're gonna get people killed.
Demostrate a need?
How about lots of crime in Orange County?
Mugging, rapes, robbery, police corruption, drugs? Nah, you don’t need no stinking gun permit.
Shit up and move along.
- THE WISDOM OF ARCHIE BUNKER -
ARCHIE: The first amendment guarantees that baby the right to bear a machine gun?
MEATHEAD: The first amendment guarantees free speech.
ARCHIE: Same thing, buddy boy. If you got a gun in your hand, youre free to make any speech you want to.

Sheriff Hutchens better start mixing toothpaste with her shampoo, ‘cuz she’s getting a cavity in her brain.
But one area where Sherrif Carona’s policies were sound involved concealed-carry permits. Yes, he granted permits to some political associates and campaign donors. But he also approved more permits than almost any sheriff in the state, according to the Times report. Some sheriffs take a broad view, and others take a narrow view. -—As with all discretionary government policies, one’s freedom is dependent on the subjective views of the government authority-—
Precisely the reason for the 2nd Amendment! FASCISM!
This is what happens in a "may issue" state like Californica. Permits are given out for "good cause", and the best cause was being a political or social buddy with the top cop. You had to know the secret handshake.
Michigan was like this until 1998. "Shall issue" is a vast improvement, although the pols in Michigan are still trying to cut it back with long lists of disqualifications, like having a citation for uncut grass.
Still, in the "may issue" days, nobody openly went after the permits issued by their predecessor. But if you found yourself on the wrong side of the new-county-order, your renewal would be quietly dumped.
However, as new chef in the kitchen, she is simply throwing out everything the old chef made. (I believe that is SOP when there is a new chef.)
ROTFLMAO......
